Limited or unlimited atonement?
Those of the Calvinist Cult sect of christianity hold to the non-scriptural position that Christ ONLY died for the "elect". In other words, Christ did NOT die for all men....That's what they call "limited atonement"....I call it "limited intelligence" on the Calvinists part.
CHRIST DIED FOR ALL MEN
John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
John 3:
[14] And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
[15] That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
[16] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
[17] For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
[18] He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
[19] And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
[20] For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
[21] But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Notice all the mentioning of "whosoever" and "world" and NO mention of "elect". Obviously Christ died for the WORLD. This also refutes "unconditional election" because this salvation IS conditional on believing the gospel. This also shows that man has a FREEWILL.....because it is plainly states that this is a choice issue in verses 18-21. In Numbers 21 when the serpent was lifted up, ANY that had the sickness could look on the serpent and be healed....not just "the elect". The serpent was raised for ALL those who were sick, and guess what??? That was a PICTURE OF CHRIST.
Now look at the plan of salvation for 'the heathen that haven't heard....you won't find anything that is "limited" or contrary to "freewill".
Acts 10:
[34] Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
[35] But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
Romans 2:
[1] Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things.
[2] But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.
[3] And thinkest thou this, O man, that judgest them which do such things, and doest the same, that thou shalt escape the judgment of God?
[4] Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
[5] But after thy hardness and impenitent heart treasurest up unto thyself wrath against the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God;
[6] Who will render to every man according to his deeds:
[7] To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:
[8] But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
[9] Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;
[10] But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:
[11] For there is no respect of persons with God.
Now get a load of this.....nothing "limited" about it!!!
Acts 13:
[38] Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins:
[39] And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Here's another "Free Willy".....
Romans 3:
[22] Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
[23] For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
[24] Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
[25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;
[26] To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
And another.....
Romans 4:
[22] And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
[23] Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
[24] But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
[25] Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
You'll love this one.....
2 Corinthians 5:
[14] For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead:
[15] And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again.
[16] Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more.
[17] Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
[18] And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
[19] To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
[20] Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.
[21] For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.
And all that isn't even HALF the list of verses on UNLIMITED atonement
HOLE IN CALVINIST CULT LOGIC
The Calvinist Cult is quick to point out that Christ is said to have died for "many" (Isa. 53:12) and not for "all". But then when it says "all" (2 Cor. 5:15) the Calvinists say that it does not really mean "all". ????? So there is no pleasing the Calvinist Cult. But if "many" cannot include the WORLD (which is VERY many) than what do the Calvinists make of this verse?
Romans 5:19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.
By Calvinist logic (Limited Intelligence), not ALL people were made sinners through Adam's disobedience...only "many". That is obviously not true, therefore "many" can mean "all" or "world". Because "all" and "world" ARE MANY...VERY MANY.
