The Value of a False Gospel

The fact that Baptists like and sing this song shows how they believe in a false gospel.

"As a sinner bows his head to pray, can’t you hear the Father say...A sinner is saved, saved from the fire" --"The Value of one"

Bowing your head is a work, and prayer is a labor that you strive and persevere in (Col. 4:12, Rom 5:30, Eph. 6:18). It is something that we offer to God (Heb. 5:7). Which is why God does not hear it from a lost sinner (Isa. 59:2, Matt. 7:21, Ps. 34:15-16, Rom. 3:19, John 9:31, 1 Pet. 3:12, Prov. 15:29, 28:9). The Lord does not need that any should testify of man, He knows what is in man (John 2:25).

How do saved people sing that song? In my opinion saved people actually do not, it is lost people that sing it.  I say that on the basis of "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh" (Matt. 12:34). If someone sings that a sinner is saved by bowing his head to pray, then that is probably what they believe ("I believed, and therefore have I spoken" 2 Cor. 4:13).

For those who say, "Well the rest of the song is good, so it does not matter if the gospel in it is not exactly right." I would suggest they look at what Paul said about music...

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.

Is singing a false gospel an example of "wisdom"?

Is singing a false gospel a good "teaching"?

Is singing a false gospel "spiritual"?

If you are adding works to the gospel in song, do you really have grace in your heart? (Rom. 11:6)

And keep in mind: there is no such thing as a "watered down gospel" or a "poor presentation of the gospel".....there is either the gospel of Christ OR a false gospel.

"I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed." (Gal. 1:6-8)

  1. Good show...Using rightly divided scripture makes your blog message effective. 1 Thess 2:13 Applying the Word with those people that are steeped in false teaching (bad doctrine)has produced caustic and nasty reactions from religious people. Just this week, a gentleman told that he is praying that "the Holy Spirit would" show me (set me straight) regarding his version of the truth. He was put off when I gave him scripture that clearly pinpointed his bad doctrine. Thankfully our hope is in Him, the Word...not people.
