Why I won't use an ESV.

Why I won't use an ESV.

1.) I won't use an ESV because it says that Joseph was Christ's father. Luke 2:33 "And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him." The KJV says "Joseph and his mother....".

2.) I won't use an ESV because it omitted the reference to the preservation of scripture in Psalms 12:7. "The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver refined in a furnace on the ground, purified seven times. You, O Lord, will keep them; you will guard us from this generation forever." The KJV says, "The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever."

3.) I won't use an ESV because it omitted "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one" from 1 John 5:7.

4.) I won't use an ESV because it placed quote marks in the wrong places in Acts 19:4-5 to teach MULTIPLE water baptisms for the believer.

5.) I won't use an ESV because it COMPLETELY eliminated the grace dispensation doctrine of justification by Christ's faith (from Gal. 2:16, 20, 3:22, Philippians 3:9, Eph. 3:12, Rom. 3:22). The only other reference the ESV left us on salvation by Christ's faith is 2 Timothy 2:13, but that is hardly enough to establish the doctrine of our justification. The KJV says that when we put our faith in Christ we are justified by CHRIST'S perfect and complete faith! If we were justified by our own faith we would have to do works to make it complete! (James 2, Hebrews 6:6, 10:20-22, 1 Pet. 1:7-11, 4:18) The ESV has taken away one of the biggest distinctions between GRACE age salvation and TRIBULATION period salvation.

6.) I won't use an ESV because it omitted the only references to studying the Bible and rightly dividing the Bible. ESV, 2 Timothy 2:15 "Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth." The KJV says "Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth."

7.) I won't use an ESV because it eliminated Christ's blood atonement from Colossians 1:14, "in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins." The KJV says "In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:"

8.) I won't use an ESV because it doesn't say that "God was manifest in the flesh" in 1 Timothy 3:16 like the KJV does. The ESV took out "God" and replaced it with "he was manifested in a body"..... we just lost the perfect verse on the Deity of Christ!

9.) I won't use an ESV because it replaced "HOLY SCRIPTURES" (2 Tim. 3:16, KJV) with "sacred writings".

10.) I won't use and ESV because it doesn't say that Jesus Christ was from everlasting. The ESV (Micah 5:2) "But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days." The KJV says "But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting."

11.) I won't use an ESV because it says that the Israelites were baptized "INTO Moses" (1 Cor. 10:1-2). But NOBODY was ever baptized "into Moses", they were baptized "unto Moses"....which is identification with God's messenger. The only person you can be baptized INTO is Christ...and the Holy Spirit is the one that does that (1 Cor. 12:13).

12.) I won't use an ESV because it omits the command "thou shalt not bear false witness". (I wonder why?)

ESV
Romans 13: For the commandments, “You shall not commit adultery, You shall not murder, You shall not steal, You shall not covet,” and any other commandment, are summed up in this word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” 10 Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

KJV
Romans 13:
[9] For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if there be any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
[10] Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.

13.) I won't use an ESV because it doesn't warn you against those who corrupt the word of God.

ESV 2 Corinthians 2:17 For we are not, like so many, peddlers of God's word, but as men of sincerity, as commissioned by God, in the sight of God we speak in Christ

KJV 2 Corinthians 2:17 For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.

14.) I won't use an ESV because......

ESV 1 Timothy 6:5 and constant friction among people who are depraved in mind and deprived of the truth, imagining that godliness is a means of gain

No no no....they suppose that GAIN is godliness!

KJV 1 Timothy 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself

15.) I won't use an ESV because it doesn't say that the love of money is the root of all evil.

ESV 1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.

KJV 1 Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows

There are scores of other reasons, that is just a few. --Eli "Hoss" Caldwell
