Flat Earthers allege that the Bible teaches that the moon is a glowing light in the sky with no solid surface.
I agree that the moon is a light, but that does not mean that it does not have a solid surface. In the phases of the moon we can see its surface and its craters when it is not shining at the different phases.
It is a light, but according to Matthew 24:29 it is something that gives light. “the moon shall not give her light”. This is consistent with the moon being a solid object that gives off light reflected from the sun.
In Acts 16:29 the jailer “called for a light”, which is obviously referring to a candle or lantern, which are both a solid object that can give light. We see and observe the moon’s surface with craters in it and that is not contrary to the Bible. In fact it coincides with the Bible’s statement in Job 26:5 that the moon “shineth not”. The moon does not produce its own light, but gives light from the sun. It especially coincides with Mark 13:24 “But in those days, after that tribulation, the sun shall be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light,”. When the sun is darkened, the moon shall not give her light. Which makes sense if the moon gets her light from the sun. The flat earth folks have yet to prove from the Bible that the moon gives its own light. They have also not proven that being a light means it cannot have a solid surface. That is not how the Bible uses the word light (Acts 16:29) and that is not how we use the word today (“turn on the light”, “get new lights for the car”, etc all refer to things with a solid surface).
