In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. (John 1:1-3)
- "In the beginning" (Col. 1:18. Heb. 1:10, 1 John 1:1, Rev. 1:8, 1:11, 1:17, 3:14, 21:6, 22:13, Micah 5:2). This obviously makes Genesis 1:1 a reference to Jesus Christ.
- "All things were made by him" (Eph. 3:9, 1 Cor. 8:6, Col. 1:16-17, Heb. 1:10). This makes Gen 1:1-31, 2:3, 2:4, 5:1, 8:1, 9:6, Deut. 4:32, Mal. 2:10, Ps. 8:1-9, 102:1-27, etc. references to Jesus Christ.
- "the Word was God" (Isaiah 7:14/9:6, Matt. 1:23, 1 Tim. 3:16, Col. 1:15-18, 2:9, Heb. 1:8, John 1:1-3, 1:10, 20:28, Acts 7:59, 20:28, Rom. 9:5, 1 John 3:16, 5:20, Titus 2:13, etc. )
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John bare witness of him, and cried, saying, This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me. And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ. No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. (John 1:14-18)
- "the Word was made flesh" (1 Tim. 3:16, Phil. 2:6-8).
- "for he was before me" (John 1:15, 1:30, 8:42, 8:58, 16:28, 17:5, 17:24, Col. 1:18. Heb. 1:10, 1 John 1:1, Rev. 1:8, 1:11, 1:17, 3:14, 21:6, 22:13, Micah 5:2)
Jesus Christ is plainly called the Word in the following verses:
That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) (1 John 1:1-2)
1 John 5:7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
Revelation 19:13 And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God.
