Hoss vs Doug Kutilek "The Best Cure for KJVOism"

Hoss Cartwright vs Doug Kutilek, "The best cure for KJVOism"... Hoss's comments in black, Doug's in red.

The Best Cure for KJVOism: A Real 1611 KJV
It has been widely publicized that the year 2011 is the 400th anniversary of the original
publication of the socalled “Authorized” or “King James Version” of the Bible in English (Because it is).
This translation has historically been the most widely used, at least since it overtook the
previous champion, the Geneva Bible of 1560 (chiefly, at least initially, as a result of the
legal suppression of the printing of the Geneva Bible by the British monarchy, in favor of
the KJV) (Are you it doesn't have anything to do with "
For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater: So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."??? --Isaiah 55:10-11) . It should be noted, however, that the great majority of the editions and copies of the KJV printed and read in the past 400 years have been revisions rather than reprints of the original form of the KJV, with literally tens of thousands of revisions in spelling,
punctuation and the use of italics, plus many hundreds in the precise wording of the text,
to say nothing of the switch from “black letter” (“Gothic”) type to Roman (Yes, there were many printers errors in the original 1611 and many of the following editions. And yes, spelling, punctuation, etc. has been changed), the widespread omission of the Apocrypha in the 18th and later centuries (The apocrypha was BETWEEN the testaments, not included in the cannon of scripture. They did not believe it belonged in the Old or New Testaments which was in direct defiance of the Roman Catholic Church.....meanwhile the Greek manuscripts behind the modern versions (Aleph and B) have the apocrypha in the TEXT of the old and new testaments. If these truly are the oldest and best manuscripts, how come Bible correctors do not accept the apocrypha as scripture?), along with the omission of an extended calendar and charts of Biblical genealogies, and most unfortunately, the omission of the extremely important and informative introductory essay, “The Translators to the Readers,” which was in the original edition (Ummmm.....KJB believers believe that the TEXT of the Old and New Testament is inspired--not the maps and essays. That is quite silly of you, Mr. Kutilek.). In short, most KJV users, particularly those who claim to be “King James Version 1611 Only” in their beliefs, have never actually seen or used a real 1611 King James Version in the original form in which it was issued from the press in 1611 (And you have never seen "the original Greek text". Have you ever even seen the original Aleph and B??? You know good and well that you Bible correctors are the only ones who care about originals. Meanwhile I do have a Nelson publishers 1611 reproduction, which has most everything except for the original font and size. I have read it through--more than once).
In the past, there have been from time to time facsimile reprints of the 1611 KJV. In
1833, “The Holy Bible, an exact reprint page for page of the Authorized Version published
in the year 1611” was printed at the University Press, Oxford; it was in Roman type (see
A. S. Herbert, Historical Catalogue of Printed Editions of the English Bible 15251961.
London: British and Foreign Bible Society, 1968; p. 377). In 1911, the University Press at
Oxford issued two 1611 reprints the first a facsimile (in black letter) in reduced size of the
original 1611 KJV, the other an exact reprint page for page but in Roman type, of the
1611 edition, both with introductory essays by A. W. Pollard (see Herbert, p. 458). I have
owned a copy of the 1911 Roman type reprint for almost 35 years. This 1911 Roman type reprint was reissued in the 1970s (or early 1980s) by Thomas Nelson of Nashville, about the time they issued their New King James Version (and for a time Nelson sold the two volumes together in a slipcase). This reprint omitted the Pollard essay (and perhaps other features I gave my copy to one of my sons a few years ago and cannot check it directly). Later probably in the 1990s, Hendrickson Publishing (the publishing arm of Christian Book Distributors) also reprinted the1911 Roman type edition (in precisely the form Nelson had). These two recent reprints are easy to find via the internet. Besides these, there have been over the years several fullsized facsimile reprints of the 1611 KJV by various publishers; my brother has a copy of one made in the 1950s, for which he paid $350, used, a decade ago. Such fullsized facsimiles are rarely met with and are generally rather pricey (in the hundreds or even many hundreds of dollars) Now, another edition, widely available and quite inexpensive, has appeared, this made by Zondervan and sold at WalMart (and perhaps other retail outlets). The ISBN is: 9780310440291. It is a facsimilean exact reproduction in the original black letter script of the 1611 edition, but in a reduced size, and with one feature of the original omitted the
thirteen books of the Apocrypha (as noted on p. viii of the Introduction to this new
edition). That the 1611 KJV originally did have the Apocrypha can be visually confirmed
in this edition on the page containing Malachi 4, where the “catchword” at the bottom of
the page is “APO“ which points to “APOCRYPHA” which is at the top of the page in the
original (and in my 1911 reprint), after which originally followed the complete text of those
noncanonical books) (They are also in your "oldest and best manuscripts" as PART of the Old and New Testaments). The printed retail price of this Zondervan 2011 facsimile reprint is $7.99, though I have bought several copies at WalMart in Kansas for $4.97 and I have heard it priced about a
dollar higher elsewhere (and I suspect they hope to make a profit on the publication of the
KJV at that price). (Mr. Doug, are you selling books or something?)

I would strongly urge EVERY PREACHER, EVERY CHRISTIAN READER and EVERY CHURCH AND CHRISTIAN COLLEGE LIBRARY to get a copy AT ONCE. If you have any KJVO friends, buy and give them a copy. There is no quicker cure for KJVOism that the direct and extended study of the 1611 edition, introductory material and all (Why should we read the introductory material? I am more interested in the text of the Holy Bible.). One finds in the actual, original, genuine 1611 KJV (no doubt “preserved in the form God wants us to have”) an introductory essay that states the translators’ perspective on their own and other translations (Yes...yes...yes...we know that already. I don't care about essays, I care about the holy scriptures that we recieve as the word of God, not as the word of men. (2 Tim. 3:15-16, 1 Thes. 2:13) (they, at least, were decidedly NOT “KJVOnly”). If I could do just ONE thing, I would make every KJVO partisan read carefully those 11 highly informative pages. The original translator’s English Bible text has literally thousands of variant marginal renderings (showing that they did not believe their translation as found in the text was infallibly correct), plus variant manuscript readings, showing that they did not believe that the manuscript reading given in their text was necessarily always right. (And what about the writers in the Bible that did not claim inspiration?) One will also find numerous places where words are “omitted,” “added” or altered as compared with all modern editions of the KJV, to say nothing of a considerable number of printer’s errors (are these also part of the “perfect preservation” we hear so much about?) (No, they are part of printers errors. Do you believe a printing press can be inspired?). And one can discover on the title page of the NT those revealing words: “cum privilegio” (Latin: “with privilege”) which demonstrate the undeniable fact that this translation was COPYRIGHTED FROM THE DAY IT WAS FIRST PUBLISHED (Ok, file a lawsuit against KJB believers....if you can.) (contrary to the gross misrepresentation on this point that is part of the accepted KJVO “wisdom”). I am quite sure that the quickest “cure” for the absurdity (Whoooaaa! What was that??? Did I just hear some "bombastic" Ruckman lingo? GASP. Are you a Ruckmanite?)  of KJVOism is the close and careful study of the actual original KJV itself. I would challenge even dare every KJVO partisan to get this facsimile of the original KJV and study it “cover to cover” and margin to margin, spending a year and more in the process, and try to prove me wrong. (I have nothing to prove. A lot of what you said is true, but you came to silly conclusions based on facts.)

Fundamentals of King James Onlyism

Fundamentals of King James Onlyism

Below is my critique of an email I got from a brother in response to my post on the attributes of the word of God.

Mr. S. :The point is: God delivered His message to mankind in those 3 languages (Greek, Aramaic, Hebrew)...and from those 3 languages should all the translations be derived from to be most accurate.
HOSS: That is your premise, not mine. I do not hold to the "preserved original languages only" (POLO) view. I believe that the word of God can be in any language that is capable of bearing the content of the original autographs....some languages can't do that as seen below by Dr. Dave Reese.
""There are no pure translations available in the Philippine major languages and dialects. Every effort (due to lack of linguistic ability in English and/or the target language) has introduced more errors. Some "KJVers" have tried it, but my observation has been that the Filipino pastors who know the KJB, laugh at their pitiful mistakes. One effort produced a Bible that said to the Filipino that when anyone, male or female became Christians --now, right at that moment became little male sons. John 1:12 certainly does teach we are "sons of God" but the English meaning is far from saying all males and females are right now little boys. Translation is a difficult task! Some languages don't even have a word or a concept for "believe". Try to say "believe on The Lord Jesus Christ" when there is no idea of "believe" in the language. How about teaching "the lamb of God" in a place where there have never been "lambs" or even pictures of one? You might as well be talking about unicorns to a Georgia cotton picker."" --Dr. Dave Reese
The biggest problem with the POLO view is that we don't know that the original autographs penned by the apostles were written in Greek (though we are pretty sure that the OT was written in Hebrew). The "original GREEK" is only a theory. Paul knew at least two languages (Acts 21-22) and he wrote and communicated with all kinds of people distributing the word of God (1 Thes. 2:13). Paul was commissioned to all nations for the obedience of faith, which requires the word of God (Rom. 1:5, 10:17, 16:25-26). Apollos was "mighty in the scriptures" and lived in Alexandria, he could have distributed the word of God to those in Egypt. There is also the Old Latin (which was used on the cross, John 19:20) which the apostles and prophets very likely could have used. Greek is over rated.....

Besides that, even IF Greek was what Matthew-Revelation were originally written in, that would still not mean much. The converts of Peter and Paul were speaking in tongues (languages, 1 Cor. 12-14) for YEARS until the completion of the scriptures (1 Cor. 13, http://av1611studyblog.blogspot.com/2014/07/blah-blah-blah-is-that-really-holyghost.html). The tongues were a supplement for scripture. The gift gave "God breathed" words to the speakers and hearers......this would have gotten wrote down in those different languages.

Also, Paul said that he got the gospel to the whole world in just the 1st century......(which would have gotten the word of God to the whole world as well)

Romans 1:
[1] Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
[2] (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
[3] Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
[4] And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
[5] By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name
:

Romans 10:
[13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
[14] How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?
[15] And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
[16] But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?
[17] So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God
.

Romans 15:
[13] Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
[14] And I myself also am persuaded of you, my brethren, that ye also are full of goodness, filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another.
[15] Nevertheless, brethren, I have written the more boldly unto you in some sort, as putting you in mind, because of the grace that is given to me of God,
[16] That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost
.

Romans 16:
[25] Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
[26] But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith

Paul was supposed to preach the gospel to all nations and he was the special apostle to the Gentiles (Eph.3:1, Gal. 2:7-8). He preached to all nations so that they could be obedient to the faith (believe the gospel, 1 Cor. 15:1-4) and you could not be obedient to the faith without the word of God (Rom. 10:17, 1 Pet. 1:23).

Paul got the gospel to the world in the 1st century.....

Colossians 1:
[5] For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel;
[6] Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth
:

Titus 2:11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,

So Paul's preaching, the speaking and tongues, and the copyists have all been God's instruments in getting the scripture in other languages. We don't know that our Greek manuscripts are any "more accurate" than any other language manuscript. The Old Latin, Old Syriac, Coptic, Gallic, and Gothic are all very old (older than a lot of Greek manuscripts) and there is no reason to believe that there is anything special about the Greek. One of the attributes of the word of God is that it is not bound (2 Tim. 2:9).

Mr. S :That (Revelation) was delivered ONCE! Not again and again in different languages! God did not deliver His revelation again to the KJV translators...as the KJV only infer. Simple my friend. And where was the KJV 1611 translated from? Or the previous KJV versions for that matter? If it was translated from the "best" Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts...those should be our final authority and best source to know what God's revelation is.
HOSS: Actually, God was giving "God breathed" (Bible corrector cliche) words as a supplement to written scripture through the gift of tongues (which ceased, 1 Cor. 13, http://av1611studyblog.blogspot.com/2014/07/blah-blah-blah-is-that-really-holyghost.html). So He actually was giving His revelation "again and again" which would have gotten wrote down in by the hearers of those tongues. Though this was not occurring past the completion of the scriptures.

Inspiration is God giving someone supernatural understanding of what He wants to convey (Job 32:8) This is referred to as "moved by the Holy Ghost" (2 Pet. 1:21).

Job 32:8 But there is a spirit in man: and the inspiration of the Almighty giveth them understanding.

2 Peter 1:21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Copies of scripture (non-originals) are still called "scripture" and ALL scripture is given by inspiration of God (2 Tim. 3:15-16) and we are told to live by it.

2 Timothy 3:
[13] But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.
[14] But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;
[15] And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.
[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
[17] That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works

Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God

Therefore God is still preserving His word through inspiration (if not than our scripture is not "holy" and IS the word of men.....but Paul said that it was the word of God and holy, 1 Thes. 2:13). Inspiration of scripture is not some magical thing where God takes control of a person and forces them to write down what He wants.....it is simply God giving the spirit in a man understanding (Job 32:8). That is how God preserves scripture so that it is STILL the word of God (not the word of men) and it is STILL "holy" (1 Thes. 2:13, 2 Tim. 3:15-16). Man is NOT the preserver NOR the author of scripture. Both are what God does!

2 Timothy 3:[16] All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

Psalms 12:
[6] The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times.
[7] Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever
.

So yes, God did inspire the KJV translators just like He did Paul, Moses, etc.

How do I know that the KJV is a fulfillment of Psalms 12:7 (preservation)???? I know it because "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:" (John 10:27). And "......the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe." (1 Thes. 2:13) God's people (true believers) will hear God's words and know them. The King James Only position is truly a matter of faith, not human reason or logic. I can't prove that the original autographs were inspired, much less the Book I have in my hand. Believing the Bible is a FAITH position......"So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (Rom. 10:17). I do have the following evidence that the King James Bible is God's preserved word.

1.) It gives more honor to Jesus Christ, His Deity, and His scriptures than any other book I have came across.
2.) The Catholic church and liberals don't like it. ;)
3.) It does not tone down condemnation on sin.

Now for Mr. S's questions.
"where was the KJV 1611 translated from? Or the previous KJV versions for that matter? If it was translated from the "best" Hebrew, Aramaic and Greek texts...those should be our final authority and best source to know what God's revelation is."

The KJB came from Hebrew, Greek, Latin, Spanish, German, and other previous translations and copies.

Where was the word of God before 1611?
http://av1611studyblog.blogspot.com/2014/08/where-was-word-of-god-before-1611.html

KJB Inspiration (quote)
http://av1611studyblog.blogspot.com/2014/08/kjb-inspiration-quote.html

We cannot know for sure (EXACTLY) where the King James Bible and the early versions came from. That was 403 years ago (or longer) and so all the evidence they had is not going to be available today.

Also notice how Mr. S repeatedly said "best" texts and "best" source. Does Mr. S believe in perfect preservation as spoke of in Ps. 12:6-7, Isa. 40:8, Matt. 5:18, Matt. 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33, 1 Pet. 1:23-25, and 2 Tim. 3:15-17???? I am not so sure that he does. The Bible doesn't speak of "best scripture", it talks about "THE HOLY SCRIPTURE".

Mr. S :Yes, there are no perfect translations, not even the 1611...though again, I only use KJV myself which I believe it is still the best translation (again...far from what the Only's claim.)
HOSS: Do you believe that ANYTHING is perfect? Do you realize that you just denied the inspiration of 263 verses in the New Testament??? Around 260 verses in the NT are OT quotes. So the OT which was written in Hebrew was translated by the writers of the NT originals......which would result in at least SOME inspired translations in the originals.

OT HEBREW QUOTES--->NT LATIN, GREEK, ETC. = INSPIRED TRANSLATION

Notice that Mr. S USES a King James Bible because he "believes it is still the best". He does "use" it because it is the word of God.

Mr. S: You mentioned about other languages (and I know a few myself) and the challenge of linguists to come up with equivalent terms...yet while we are debating the KJV Only issue, millions around the world are being saved through that which is available to them.
HOSS: Well I am not sure about millions around the world getting saved, but God knows. As long as Christ and His finished work is preached, people can get saved off of it. You could sew 1 Cor. 15:1-4 onto a dirty sock and someone could get saved off of it.....but that would not mean anything as far as the status of the dirty sock.

Mr. S: I don't care for the NIV...and its hundreds of omissions, but I cannot throw it in the trash as suggested by some Only's because whatever is there (and many verses are just like KVJ or very close to) it is just as much "words of God" as in any other printed page. Obviously, I strive to have God's word as complete and as accurate as possible (and that's why I reach out to the original languages.)
HOSS: So a book that professes to be a "Holy Bible" when it is NOT should not be thrown away???? A book that has a lie on the very cover should not be thrown away? Read Jeremiah 23 where God says that He will bring judgment on those that "perverted the words of the living God". God takes those who pervert His words very seriously, in the law dispensation they were to be killed! (Deuteronomy 13) And under the gospel of the kingdom, tribulation doctrine, people lose their salvation for perverting God's word! (Rev. 22)

The NIV makes Christ a liar, says He has origins, says Joseph is His father, takes our His blood atonement, takes out His faith, takes out His dispensations, takes out His scriptures, takes our His ascension, takes out His omnipresence, His method of Bible study, the command to study, and more! If you have an NIV you can take it in your backyard and shoot it. If you meet any NIV translators tell them I said it.

Mr. S: By the way...I cooperated with a Bearing Precious Seed team in the translation of the Portuguese New Testament, and I was invited to the release of the entire Bible in Sao Paulo, Brazil where I was invited to the platform to close the event in prayer.

Have a blessed day."
HOSS: That is good, more power to you. Have a blessed day as well. --bro. Eli "Hoss" Caldwell

Ephesians 3:6

Here is an email I sent in a dispensational discussion with a friend. --Eli "Hoss" Caldwell

Ephesians 3:
[1] For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles,
[2] If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to youward:
[3] How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words,
[4] Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ)
[5] Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now
(Current age.) revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
[6] That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel
:

The mystery is that the Gentiles are
1.) Fellowheirs
2.) Of the same body
3.) Partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel

This mystery was certainly not revealed before the cross, the gospel (1 Cor. 15:1-4) wasn't even preached or believed. Not to mention that the Gentiles were not included in the gospel (Matt. 10) until AFTER the cross (Matt. 28:19, Mark 16:15).

Paul preached the mystery BEFORE Acts 28 (Romans 16:25-26).

Paul was the first one that the mystery was made known to and so that is when the present age began (Eph. 3:5). The revelation of the mystery is what divides the "other ages" from the "now". Paul got that revelation in Acts 9 (Acts 26) and so that is when this present age began.

The Gentiles could be fellowheirs and partakers of the kingdom program/gospel (Matt 24:14, 28:19, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2) but Peter didn't know anything about Gentiles (independent of the Jews) could be fellowheirs and of the same body.

To me the events of Acts 10 really indicate that the new age had begun (at Acts 9).

As for the believing Jews being "sanctified by faith" (Acts 26:18), faith is believing what God said.

If what God says is "repent and be baptized, endure to the end, sell all that you have" and the Jew does that, then he is sanctified by faith because he believed what God said.

In this age God says "he that worketh not but believeth" on Christ will be saved, if we do that than we are justified by faith. In the gospel of the kingdom the Jews cannot have faith (believing what God said) without doing the works that He told them to do (James 2). God told the Jews to believe on Christ and work, He told the Gentiles to believe on Christ and trust His work.

As for the inheritance, I believe that the body of Christ and Israel both look forward to the new heaven and the new earth. (2 Pet. 3:13)  I believe that both the BOC and Israel will have access to the new heavens and new earth. However, Paul focuses on the heavens because our rapture is pre-rib and to heaven. Peter focuses on the kingdom because the Jewish rapture is on the earth.

That is my two cents. --bro. Eli

ESV Ephesians critiqued. ESV vs KJV

My critique of the ESV book of Ephesians. ESV vs KJV

1.)

ESV
Ephesians 1:10 as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.

KJV
Ephesians 1:10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

Notice that the ESV omitted the word "dispensation". It is clear from the omissions of the word "dispensation" in the ESV [and the omission of "rightly dividing" (2 Tim. 2:15)] that the translators were not fans of studying the Bible in context. Dispensationalism is one of the most attacked subjects in the KJB.

2.)

ESV
Ephesians 1:12-13 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ might be to the praise of his glory. In him you also, when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and believed in him, were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

KJV
Ephesians 1:12-13 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise

The ESV omitted trusting Christ from salvation.

3.)

ESV
Ephesians 2:1 And you were dead in the trespasses and sins

KJV
Ephesians 2:1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins

The ESV omits the reference to Christ quickening us.

4.)

ESV
Ephesians 2:22 In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit

KJV
Ephesians 2:22 In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit.

The KJV makes it clear that the Ephesians were already saved and built for an habitation of God through the Spirit, the ESV makes it sound like a PROCESS rather than an instantaneous occurrence.

5.)

ESV
Ephesians 3:2 assuming that you have heard of the stewardship of God's grace that was given to me for you,

KJV
Ephesians 3:2 If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to youward:

Again, the ESV attacks dispensational study of the Bible. The KJV makes it clear that the present age began with Paul. You would have a hard time figuring that out with an ESV.

6.)

ESV
Ephesians 3:5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.

KJV
Ephesians 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;

Surprise! Another attack on dispensational teaching, courtesy of the ESV. The word "age" refers to God's order and set-up for a period of time. Like a dispensation. Paul makes it clear in Ephesians 3:5-9 and Colossians 1:25-26 that a new age had begun with the dispensing of the mystery.

It is true that the mystery was hid from other generations...but it was hid from BOTH generations AND ages past.

Colossians 1:25-26 Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God; Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:

ESV
Ephesians 3:12 in whom we have boldness and access with confidence through our faith in him.

KJV
Ephesians 3:12 In whom we have boldness and access with confidence by the faith of him.

The ESV just omitted Christ's faith that saved us and replaced it with our own faith. To see this in more detail look at these posts

ESV
Ephesians 4:17 Now this I say and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer walk as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds.

KJV
Ephesians 4:17 This I say therefore, and testify in the Lord, that ye henceforth walk not as other Gentiles walk, in the vanity of their mind,

The ESV has watered down Paul's condemnation of heathen Gentiles.

9.)

ESV
Ephesians 4:30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

KJV
Ephesians 4:30 And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.

Here the ESV attacks the doctrine of eternal security. The KJV makes it clear that we trusted Christ and were sealed with the Holy Spirit until the rapture (Eph. 1:13, 4:30). However, the ESV does not make any sense by saying "you were sealed for the day of redemption".

10.)

ESV
Ephesians 5:1 Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children.

KJV
Ephesians 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

Should we imitate God? That is what Satan and the antichrist do (Isa. 14, Ezek. 28, 2 Thes. 2)....but what Christians are supposed to do is FOLLOW God's revelation that He gave us in His word.

2 Thessalonians 2:
[3] Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
[4] Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God
.

Isaiah 14:
[11] Thy pomp is brought down to the grave, and the noise of thy viols: the worm is spread under thee, and the worms cover thee.
[12] How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
[13] For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
[14] I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
[15] Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit
.

ESV
Ephesians 5:3-5
But sexual immorality and all impurity or covetousness must not even be named among you, as is proper among saints.  Let there be no filthiness nor foolish talk nor crude joking, which are out of place, but instead let there be thanksgiving.  For you may be sure of this, that everyone who is sexually immoral or impure, or who is covetous (that is, an idolater), has no inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.

KJV
Ephesians 5:3-5
But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks. For this ye know, that no whoremonger, nor unclean person, nor covetous man, who is an idolater, hath any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God

Again, the ESV has watered down the condemnation of sin.

12.)

ESV
Ephesians 5:6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the wrath of God comes upon the sons of disobedience.

KJV
Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience

Again, the ESV has toned down the language...."empty" or "vain"? Which sounds more serious?

13.)

ESV
Ephesians 5:9 (for the fruit of light is found in all that is good and right and true),

KJV
Ephesians 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;

What is "the fruit of light"??? It should be the FRUIT OF THE SPIRIT!

Galatians 5:
[22] But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
[23] Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law

14.)

ESV
Ephesians 5:18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit,

KJV
Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit

The ESV claims to be "updating" the "archaic" and "hard to understand" King James Bible.....but that claim is FALSE. I asked a 16 year old kid what "debauchery" was and he didn't know. Then I asked him what "excess" is and he knew that.

15.)

ESV
Ephesians 5:21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ

KJV
Ephesians 5:21 Submitting yourselves one to another in the fear of God

Did the ESV translators have a problem with FEARING God?

16.)

ESV
Ephesians 5:25-27
Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.

KJV
Ephesians 5:25-27
Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish

As you can see, the ESV helps enable the false teaching that the body of Christ (church) is the bride of Christ when it is actually ISRAEL.

17.)

ESV

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

KJV

Ephesians 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

I am supposing that the ESV translators thought that the KJV was soooo archaic that the ESV needed to use some Star Wars science fiction terminology.

Churches or temples? Acts 19:37 KJV

Acts 19:37 For ye have brought hither these men, which are neither robbers of churches, nor yet blasphemers of your goddess.

According to the Bible correctors, in Acts 19:37 we have a terrible mistranslation in the King James Bible. It turns out that "churches" should have been translated "temples".

However, is it not the same thing (when referring to a building)??? I have seen CHURCHES that were called the Baptist TEMPLE and I have been to a church called the Baptist TABERNACLE. I have even seen "TEMPLE Baptist CHURCH".

And if that is not enough to convince the Bible correctors, Christ refers to His body as both a CHURCH and a TEMPLE.

John 2:19-21
Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body.

Ephesians 1:20-23
Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places, Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Ephesians 2:20-22
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone; In whom all the building fitly framed together groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord: In whom ye also are builded together for an habitation of God through the Spirit. [Context is the CHURCH which is the body of Christ....it grows unto an holy TEMPLE in the Lord]
