Planets in the Bible

 The Flat Earth conspiracy theorists insist that “planets” do not exist and that the Earth is “not a planet but rather a plane”. 

First of all, the definition of “plane” is a “flat or level surface” according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary. Is the Earth a flat and level surface? Certainly not if it has hills, mountains, and valleys. 

More importantly, does the Bible say the Earth is a plane? No. According to my search the word “plane” is used in the King James Bible one time and it is not describing the Earth. 

The word planet is used though. 

2 Kings 23:5 And he put down the idolatrous priests, whom the kings of Judah had ordained to burn incense in the high places in the cities of Judah, and in the places round about Jerusalem; them also that burned incense unto Baal, to the sun, and to the moon, and to the planets, and to all the host of heaven.

A Flat Earther wrote: 

“The planets mentioned is in connection with idolatry, those who practice idolatry called them planets and named them after their gods that they worship, it's not GOD who called them planets, GOD did not create planets.”

Actually, the statement in 2 Kings 23:5 is not a quotation from the idol worshippers. The words of the verse are part of the inspired words of the narrative of 2 Kings. The author, Jeremiah the prophet, calls them “planets” by inspiration of God. The passage states that they worshipped Baal, the sun, the moon, the planets, and the host of heaven. Baal was a literal, physical idol. The sun and moon are literal, physical objects in the second heaven. There is a literal, physical “host of heaven”. Flat Earthers agree with these points, but they disagree with planets being real because it contradicts their conspiracy theory. There certainly are planets according to the Bible, and 2 Kings 23 is not the only verse that describes them. 

Hebrews 1:2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Aside from the Biblical evidence, it is worth mentioning that there are five “naked eye planets”: Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn. You do not need a telescope, a satellite, or any “tricks” from NASA or the Free Masons as the Flat Earthers insist in order to be able to see these planets. 

If you get a standard telescope you can these planets very well and more. You can see the rings of Saturn and the moons of some of these planets. I have a $300 telescope that I can see these objects with. It is not a lie from NASA or Satan has the Flat Earthers suppose.

So where does the Earth being a “plane” rather than a planet come from? It comes from the founder of the modern Flat Earth movement, the agnostic, New Age queer-looking man Eric Dubay. He is the leader of the Flat Earth movement and wrote a book titled The Earth Plane. 

Ironically, it is the Flat Earthers that have ended up being the idolaters in this situation. They insist that those of us that know the Earth is a globe are following Satan, but their leader is a New Age agnostic. Eric Dubay’s YouTube videos and books are what got the modern flat Earth movement started on a large scale. The “christian” ones claim to have gotten the idea from the Bible, yet none of them have came out and stated what scripture verse they read that led them to believe the Earth is flat. Nor have they showed that they believed this theory prior to the rise of Eric Dubay in around 2012-2015.

For example, Dr. David Hoffman of the Common Man’s Study Bible (a very good study Bible), in his verse by verse teaching in the book of Isaiah said at chapter 40 verse 22 that “those who used to believe in the flat earth didn’t know much Bible” (see the audio message on goodpreachin’.com). All his notes in his 2004 edition of his study Bible indicate a round Earth. But after Eric Dubay’s videos really started getting popular (2015) Dr. Hoffman released a new edition of his Bible in 2017 with notes saying that the Earth is flat and that you are a “religious evolutionist” if you believe it is a globe. He says on his YouTube channel “Common Man’s Bible Institute” that you are a “globe tard” if you believe the Earth is round. 

So from all the years of Dr. Hoffman’s Bible study, he never thought the Earth was flat. He said in his preaching that those who thought it was flat “did not know much Bible”. But AFTER the flat earth conspiracy theory got popular on YouTube, he changed his tune and said you are “religious evolutionist” if you believe it is round. 

Flat Earthers will insist all day long that if you believe in the globe that you are deceived by Satan and you support the Big Bang theory, but in reality it is them that cannot seem to stop talking about the shape of the earth. It is a complete obsession for most of them. A lot of them post about it constantly on social media and the “Christian” ones are constantly trying to recruit people at churches to join their conspiracy. They are obsessed with the shape of the earth and they talk about it to the point where it is almost an idol for them. Yet they insist that the globe is the idol for us. But last time I checked those of us that believe the Earth is round are not constantly talking about it or trying to convince people of it. 

The Flat Earthers continue to discredit the word of God by claiming it teaches the foolish notions of the Flat Earth theory. And if you disagree with them they accuse you of being under the deception of Satan and the Big Bang Theory. The Flat Earth theory contradicts the Bible, true science, and history. It is a foolish theory popularized in modern times by the New Age agnostic, Eric Dubay. 

The Flat Eathers say we follow NASA, which is not true, but even if it were true, that is still better than following the weirdo ERIC DUBAY.
