Who is "Ted" Cruz and is he a Christian?

"Ted" Cruz is not really named Ted. His name is Raphael Edward Cruz. Obviously he is going by the name Ted in order to seem more American (even though he is a natural born Canadian). Who in America would vote for a guy named Raphael? Cruz was born in Canada to a Cuban refugee father and a mother from Delaware. Cruz did not renounce his Canadian citizenship until 3 years ago when he decided to run for president.

A lot of people consider Cruz to be a Christian and insist that all Christians should vote for him because of this. This is very illogical. I would never vote for somebody just because they claimed to be a Christian. I know a lot of Christians that would make terrible presidents. So the fact that "Ted" claims to be a Southern Baptist means absolutely nothing to me as far as politics and the economy is concerned. God is not dealing with nations under the Law anymore, He is dealing with individuals in the Dispensation of Grace (Rom. 6:14, 11:25, Col. 1:28). God has not promised to bless any nation physically/materially under the present dispensation, no matter how "godly" our leaders supposedly are.

Besides, I do not see any evidence that Ted Cruz is really a Bible believing Christian. Ted's favorite drink is Guinness, so how is he a Christian? Would he be a good leader?

"Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging: and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise." (Prov. 20:1)

Proverbs 23:
[29] Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes?
[30] They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine.
[31] Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.
[32] At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.
[33] Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things
.

Proverbs 31:4-5 "It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine; nor for princes strong drink: Lest they drink, and forget the law, and pervert the judgment of any of the afflicted."

[By the way, Donald Trump does not drink alcohol.]

Cruz's father, who a lot of people boast as a great preacher-man, believes in Dominion Theology. He says “The majority of you… your anointing… is an anointing as king. God has given you an anointing to go to the battlefield. And what’s the battlefield? The marketplace. To go to the marketplace and occupy the land. To go to the marketplace and take dominion.” He was also the director of Purifying Fire International Ministries, a ministry founded by Benny Hinn's wife, Suzanne Hinn. (charismatics)

Cruz says, “I’m Cuban, Irish and Italian, and yet somehow I ended up Southern Baptist.”

Cruz was raised a Christian and said he became one at Clay Road Baptist Church in Houston. http://www.gocrbc.org/aboutus/what-we-believe/
  • Clay Road Baptist Church says about the Bible: "We believe that the Bible in its original autographs, correctly interpreted, is entirely true and never false in all it affirms, relating to doctrine, ethics, and to the social, physical, or life sciences." (their emphasis)
  • About the Holy Spirit they say: "He fills them in response to confession of sin and surrender to Him."
  • About Salvation: "We believe that salvation includes justification, sanctification and glorification; it is a process by faith, not a prize and therefore every true believer is eternally secure and cannot lose his salvation." (my emphasis)
  • About the Gospel, CRBC lists 7 steps to salvation. Step 6 says "Faith is trusting in what Jesus has done for you rather than trusting your own efforts to restore fellowship with God. Faith is complete reliance on Christ to put you in right relationship with God, allowing Him to live His life through you. Faith also involves repentance or genuine sorrow for sin and willingness to turn away from sin." Step 7 says "Through prayer you can trust in Jesus Christ: Admit to God that you are a sinner. Express sorrow or repentance for your sinfulness. Ask Him to forgive your sins. Invite Jesus into your life as Savior and Lord. Commit yourself to live for Him."
This church does not believe that God has preserved all of His inspired words for us today, only the non-existent "original autographs" are "entirely true". This church believes that man can do good works (confessing sins) to be filled with the Holy Spirit--sounds Roman Catholic to me. They say that "salvation...is a process", no it isn't, it is instantaneous (Eph. 1:13, 2 Cor. 6:2). They say that faith is not just believing on Christ, they "Faith is...allowing Him to live His life through you." No it isn't, that is WORKS. That is WALKING by faith. They also say that faith involves turning from sin, more works (Jonah 3:10). Then they say that you can trust Christ through prayer, when God does not hear sinners (John 9:31) and prayer is a work (Col. 4:12). Then they say that you must express sorrow for your sinfulness...what does that mean, "express"? Cry? Sounds likes more works. Then they say that you must "commit yourself to live for Him", more works. The Bible says, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." (Eph. 2:8-9).

Cruz's home church is First Baptist Church of Houston, Texas.

  • FBC of Houston says on their beliefs about God: "We’re made in His image, which means we’re like him in many ways, except that he’s God and we’re not.

  • Under their salvation page they have this prayer that they "encourage" you to pray..."My Lord and my God, I admit that I have been wrong in not following You. I turn away from my sin - I repent. Please forgive me. I believe that You paid the penalty for me on the cross and that You rose again from the dead to offer me new life. Dear Jesus I commit myself by now transferring my trust to You alone and I ask for Your gift of life, now and forever. I receive You the resurrected and living Christ as my Savior and my Lord. Help me to live for You by the power of Your Holy Spirit. In Jesus' name. Amen." http://www.xeelife.com/response.html
The fact that God made Adam in His image does not mean that "we are all like Him in many ways". That is complete heresy, very arrogant, how could someone say that they are like God in many ways? Then on their salvation page they teach that you must "turn away from sin" (works--Jonah 3:10) and pray a prayer to be saved. God does not hear sinners (John 9:31) and prayer is a work (Col. 4:12).

Clearly Cruz agrees with his church associates (that believing includes works). He said to his home church (FBC-Houston), "Believing is not simply sitting aside and doing a polite little golf clap, Believing is putting everything you have, your heart, soul, life, putting everything into standing for what’s right." No, believing is believing. Faith is not a work, and it does not include works. "But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness." (Rom. 4:5)

Besides Ted Cruz's heretical beliefs, he has also been running a crooked campaign. At the Iowa caucus Cruz's staff falsely reported that Dr. Ben Carson had dropped out of the race and that they should vote for Cruz. http://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2016-election/carson-other-campaigns-sabotaged-us-dirty-tricks-n509396

Ted Cruz is a senator, not a governor and not a business owner, he does not run anything.

Make America Great Again and vote TRUMP.

  1. Ted Cruz just said on TV that we can't vote for Trump because he has never asked God for forgiveness. He said this will make American children think that they do not have to ask God for forgiveness. (last ditch effort to get the religious voters)

Ted then said that he has asked God for forgiveness three times already today. So he is admitting that he isn't saved, he is acknowledging that he hasn't already been forgiven of all his sins.

  2. The Bible is clear that if someone has recognized that they are a sinner in need of a savior and they have trusted Jesus Christ and his death burial and Resurrection alone to save them they are saved and going to heaven even if they're favorite drink is Guinness.Eli your preaching work salvation by claiming that a person can't be a Christian if they like Guinness as their favorite drink. not favoring somthing whether alcohol or whatever it is that is a work since that's something you do hopefully you come to see this truth have a good day and God bless
