Replacement Theology advocates (like Steven Anderson) say that after the crucifixion Israel ceased to be God's people and that Jerusalem became "spiritually...Sodom and Egypt" (Rev. 11:8). However, nothing could be further from the truth.
Jerusalem is called "the holy city" while Christ is on the cross.
Matthew 27:52-53 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.
Revelation 11:8 is referring to the FUTURE Day of the Lord when the Man of Sin has taken over Jerusalem (2 Thes. 2:3-4, Matt. 24:15, Dan. 9:27). The whole book of Revelation is referring to a future vision of the Lord's Day (Rev. 1:10).
Israel was still God's people in Acts 1-8 and He was still offering them the Kingdom (Acts 1:6, 3:19-26, 5:31, Luke 1:32-33, 1:67-75). It was not until Paul's conversion that Christ revealed the fall and blindness of Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in (Eph. 3:1-9, Col. 1:25-28, Rom. 11:25). Then God will resume dealing with Israel and establish His Kingdom in the Earth (Rom. 11:26-27, Jer. 23:1-8).
