HOSS VS A WATER DOG. Do you have to be water baptized to be saved? Ultimate refute to "Church of Christ" teaching!

Below is my debate with a "Church of Christ" water dog. (cambellite) Before reading this debate, read this post also http://av1611studyblog.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-washing-of-regeneration-refuting.html

My initial questions posted in green, his (the water dog) comments in red. My follow up comments in black.

1). Why wasn't Paul sent to baptize like John and Peter were?

John 1:33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

1 Corinthians 1:17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.

Response #1: First, we know that Paul did baptize.  For example, you cited 1 Corinthians 1:17.  Just immediately above in 1 Corinthians 1:14 we see that Paul baptized Crispus and Gauis. We also see Paul baptizing in Acts 19:1-7 where he baptized 12 individuals.  Let’s go back to the context of 1st Corinthians.  Paul is addressing the issue of division in the church at Corinth. There were factions in Corinth and each was vying for supremacy. Paul, like some missionaries today, evidently preferred to leave baptism to others because he did not want anyone to be a disciple of Paul.  He wanted them to be Disciples of Christ, Christians.  Paul is not saying baptism is not essential.  Rather, he is emphasizing his role as an evangelist and apostle and he is warning them not to be followers of men (the one who immersed or taught them), but followers of Christ (1 Corinthians 3:7)
HOSS: Why do you think Paul re-baptized in Acts 19? The only reason you think that is because the corrupt modern versions put verse 4 in quotes and not verse 5.

Acts 19:
[1] And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,
[2] He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
[3] And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
[4] Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
[5] When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
[6] And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.

The underlined portion is what Paul said, what the heck did these people hear between verses 4-5 that would cause anyone to be re-baptized? Paul simply reviewed John's message in verses 4-5 and then laid hands on them to give them the Holy Ghost baptism (like in Acts 8:15-18). So now you're down to Paul only baptizing three times (Acts 16 and 18).

Meanwhile you never addressed the reason why John the Baptist and the twelve apostles WERE SENT to baptize but Paul was SENT NOT TO baptize. We also have no record of Paul baptizing after this statement in 1 Corinthians 1:17.

And what is this stuff about Paul not baptizing because he was a missionary? Peter and the other apostles were SENT to baptize ALL NATIONS and EVERY CREATURE (Matt. 28:19, Mark 16:15-16). However, they were preaching the "gospel of the kingdom" (Matt. 24:14), beginning at Jerusalem (Luke 24:47), and were preaching that the kingdom of heaven was "at hand" (Matt. 10:5-7, Acts 3:19-26) and when this gospel got preached to all nations the end would come (Matt. 24:14). Peter was a missionary that was SENT TO BAPTIZE.

However, Paul was sent to the Gentiles apart from Jerusalem (Acts 22:17-21) when Israel had FALLEN and had been being "castaway" and diminished (Rom. 11). So Paul was a missionary, but Christ sent him NOT TO BAPTIZE, but to preach the gospel. Tell me, aren't these different attitudes toward water buptism?

"And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned....Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:" (Mark 16:15-16, Matt. 28:19)

"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house....For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect." (Acts 16:31, 1 Cor. 1:17).

If water baptism was required after Paul got saved than Paul was a jerk for not baptizing all of his converts and he is even more of a jerk for saying he had rather not baptized some of the Corinthians because of their divisive issue. 1 Cor. 1:14-15 "I thank God I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius; Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name." If water baptism was required, who cares if they were being Paulites, Ruckmanites, etc. as long as they got saved? "I thank God I baptized none of you" would be damning people to hell if water buptism was required.

You have failed to acknowledge the dispensational changes that came about after Paul's conversion.

2). 1 Corinthians 15 says that the gospel message "whereby ye are saved" is the death burial and resurrection of Christ.

[1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
[2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
[3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
[4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Ephesians 1:13 says that when I believe the gospel and trust Christ I am "sealed with the Holy Spirit".

In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

In Romans 11:6 Paul taught the principle that something is either by grace or works, not both.

And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

Water baptism could not fit into being part of Paul's gospel on that basis could it? If you have to work for salvation, wouldn't that contradict these scriptures?

Romans 4:
[2] For if Abraham were justified by works, he hath whereof to glory; but not before God.
[3] For what saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness.
[4] Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
[5] But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.
[6] Even as David also describeth the blessedness of the man, unto whom God imputeth righteousness without works,
[7] Saying, Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered.
[8] Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin.

Ephesians 2:
[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Response #2: Faith is essential for salvation. The verses that you quoted (Ephesians 1:13, Romans 11:6, and Romans 4:2-9 all show the essentiality of faith.   You also quoted 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 which is the core of the gospel.  But none of the verses you quoted deny or contradict the necessity of baptism.[???]  There are prerequisites to baptism. Before I can be a proper candidate for baptism I must hear the gospel (Romans 10:17), believe the gospel (Romans 10:9-10), repent (Luke 13:3, Acts 17:30), and confess Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9).  Baptism comes last.

Let’s look at the example of Romans 4:2-8 that you quoted.  The Jews believed that they could be saved by keeping the Law of Moses. Paul is trying to show them that the Law of Moses was never the means of their salvation.  Yes, they had to keep the Law, but it was their faith, not the “works” of the Law that saved them. Paul makes this point by going back to Abraham who did not live under the Law of Moses. Since the seed promise was given to Abraham before the Law came, the Law could not nullify a promise based on faith. Paul’s culminating point is that faith now must be in Christ (Romans 5:1-2). So, Paul is not saying in these verses that faith is all a person needs to be saved today.  He is not addressing baptism in the context of Romans chapter 4.

Let’s discuss whether baptism is a work. Think about it, if baptism is a work, then hearing, believing, and confessing are also works.  All of them take some effort, just like baptism. In fact, in John 6:27, Jesus told his followers that they are not to labour for the meat that perisheth (physical food), but rather for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life. In verse 28, they ask him what they should do that they may work the works of God. Jesus response is that the work of God is to believe on the one that God sent (Jesus). Jesus specifically refers to belief as a work and in verse 27, Jesus told them that they must labour (work) for that which endures to everlasting life. So if all work is excluded from our salvation, then belief would also have to be excluded from our salvation. Baptism is the response of a proper heart.  It is an act of obedience to accept the gift of salvation offered by God.
HOSS: I have no idea what you just said. It was nonsense.

Does this sound like just a "core of the gospel" or does it sound like the complete package?

1 Corinthians 15:
[1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
[2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
[3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
[4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Now let's see if believing and trusting Christ is a work.....

Romans 4:
[4] Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.
[5] But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Put on your glasses and read the verse, sir. "Worketh" is in contrast to "believeth".

Salvation is by trusting Christ and believing the gospel.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

This is not a work.

Ephesians 2:
[8] For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
[9] Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Works are outward performance. Faith is an inward performance. Salvation is a "free gift" (Rom. 3:24, 5:15-18, Eph. 2:8-9), since when do you have to do outward performance to get a free gift? When God said in His Bible that He died for your sins and that if you accept that payment by faith you'll be saved all you have to do is "believe" (accept the gift!). Accepting a free gift is not a work.

You mean to tell me that getting into a baptistery and letting someone baptize you is not a work? You do not have to confess with your mouth to be saved, all you have to do is trust Christ and believe the gospel (Eph. 1:13). Though you can pray when you get saved, many people have accepted Christ's payment in that manner, but it is not required because as soon as you trust Christ and believe the gospel you are indwelt forever by the Holy Spirit.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise

Galatians 3:
[1] O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?
[2] This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
[3] Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?

We receive the Spirit by the hearing of faith, not works. You are quoting verses from the previous gospel and dispensation which is very unwise.

3). Though Peter is talking about Israel's kingdom gospel where water baptism is necessary, doesn't it look like he did not believe that water washed away sins?

1 Peter 3:21
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

Response #3:  Quite the contrary as Peter here is pointing out the necessity of water baptism.  He begins by using an Old Testament example, that of Noah and the seven souls who were saved with him. Noah’s faith (obedience) led him to build an ark. God cleansed the earth with water and saved eight righteous souls. Peter’s whole point in this passage is just as eight souls were saved through water (the antitype), our salvation is also accompanied by water (baptism, the type). Unless someone misunderstands, he makes the point that baptism is not the “putting away of the filth of the flesh but the answer of a good conscience towards God.” In other words, baptism saves us not because it cleans the physical flesh, but it is the correct response (answer) of one who has the right frame of mind (good conscience) towards God.  An individual with a good conscience towards God will submit to water baptism because it is commanded (Matthew 28:19).
HOSS: Water baptism was part of the previous dispensation http://av1611studyblog.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-washing-of-regeneration-refuting.html

The ark is what saved them, (not the water), the water was God's judgment. The sense of "saved by water" is the same as " he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire." in 1 Corinthians 3:15 at the judgment seat of Christ.

But Peter plainly says that water baptism does not put away sins. You are trying to say that Peter is talking about physical dirt, but he is talking about spiritual dirt. See this quote by Dr. Herb Evans,

Unfortunately, the flesh is painted with a much broader brush in the scriptures than you allow or interpret. Spiritual filth is, indeed, in the flesh and goes beyond your so called dirt of the flesh.  Working for salvation is such spiritual filth. – Herb Evans

4). Would not water baptism contradict all of Romans 4? Paul said that we are justified by faith, and in regards to rightiousness, "But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead".

Response #4:  See the answer to question #2 above. I believe your question here is addressed there.]
HOSS: Actually you haven't addressed anything in your entire response.

5.) Is not Romans 6, Galatians 3, and Colossians 2 talking about a baptism BY the Spirit into Christ?

1 Corinthians 12:13
For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Colossians 2:12
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Response #5:  We know from the Bible that Jesus died and was placed in a physical grave.  That is the core of the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). For us to obtain salvation we must share in the likeness of His death.  We do that through water baptism.  Jesus stressed the necessity of water baptism in John 3:5 where He said we must be born of water and the Spirit. Water baptism (immersion) is where the sinful man dies and a new man is born. This is the point Paul is making in Romans 6:3-5, Galatians 3:26, and Colossians 2:12.
HOSS: You're boring me kid. John 3:5 is talking about the physical birth contrasted to the spiritual birth. Are you saying that we have to be born again twice. #1 the human birth, #2 supposedly water baptism, #3 born of the Spirit

When we get saved we are baptized by the Spirit through the faith of the operation of God into Christ, not by a church of Christ preacher through the faith of the operation of a cambellite into water.

1 Corinthians 12:
[12] For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
[13] For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.

Colossians 2:
[10] And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
[11] In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
[12] Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

Romans 6:
[3] Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
[4] Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

Galatians 3:
[26] For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
[27] For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
[28] There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Nobody is ever said to be water baptized "into" anything in the Bible. It is always "unto repentance". Every baptism Paul talks about (excluding baptism for the dead) is the baptism by the Spirit through the faith of the operation of God.

The baptism of Romans 6 makes us "dead to sin", "free from sin", etc. and water baptism does not put away the filth of the flesh (1 Pet. 3:21). Water baptism is a work. The baptism of Colossians 2:10-12 makes us "complete" and we are not "made perfect by the flesh" (Gal.3:3). Water baptism is not in any of Paul's writings accept for when he is saying that Christ SENT HIM NOT to baptize. How come you aren't acknowledging any of the dispensation changes that took place in Acts?  http://av1611studyblog.blogspot.com/2014/07/the-washing-of-regeneration-refuting.html

6.) What baptism is Ephesians 4:5 talking about i.e. "one baptism"? Water baptism by a man (Matt.28:19), Holy Ghost baptism by Christ (Matt. 3:11), or Spirit baptism into Christ (1 Cor. 12:13)?

Response #6:  As you said, Matthew 28:19 references water baptism. Baptism of the Holy Spirit in Matthew 3:11 is likely a reference to the overwhelming guidance and direction the people of God receive through Christ (Romans 8:14). The fire of Matthew 3:11 could be an allusion to the trials and tribulations Christians endure in this life (see 1 Peter 1:7, Jude 23). While 1 Corinthians12:13 remind us that the Spirit of God leads us to repentance and ultimately to baptism, Paul is really addressing the use of spiritual gifts at Corinth. Unity was a problem at Corinth and Paul is reminding them that their spiritual gifts all came from the same Spirit.
HOSS: What a sick joke!

Here is your baptism with fire. (it is for lost people)

Matthew 3:
[7] But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?
[8] Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:
[9] And think not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, that God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.
[10] And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.
[11] I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

[12] Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Matthew 24:
[37] But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
[38] For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
[39] And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
[40] Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
[41] Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
[42] Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
[43] But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
[44] Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

2 Thessalonians 1:
[7] And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
[8] In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:
[9] Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;

The baptism with fire is God pouring out judgment on the lost sinners with fire. Also see  http://av1611studyblog.blogspot.com/2014/05/acts-837-should-it-be-in-authorized.html

Here is your baptism by Christ with the Holy Ghost into a saved person under the kingdom gospel

Baptism with the Holy Ghost by Christ into a person upon laying on of hands.

This baptism is done by Christ and it has the purpose of causing the Holy Spirit to directly put knowledge, power, and holiness into the person He is baptized into (supernatural qualities). This is prophesied in Ezekiel 36, and Jeremiah 31-32.

Ezekiel 36:
[26] A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.
[27] And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Jeremiah 31:
[31] Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:
[32] Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:
[33] But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Jeremiah 32:
[37] Behold, I will gather them out of all countries, whither I have driven them in mine anger, and in my fury, and in great wrath; and I will bring them again unto this place, and I will cause them to dwell safely:
[38] And they shall be my people, and I will be their God:
[39] And I will give them one heart, and one way, that they may fear me for ever, for the good of them, and of their children after them:

Matthew 3:11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

Acts 1:
[4] And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
[5] For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.
[6] When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel?
[7] And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power.
[8] But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Acts 2:
[1] And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
[2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.
[3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.
[4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

Acts 2:33 Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear

1 John 2:20 But ye have an unction from the Holy One, and ye know all things.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

John 3:
[3] Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
[4] Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
[5] Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
[6] That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
[7] Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
[8] The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
[9] Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
[10] Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

1 Peter 1:
[22] Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
[23] Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

1 John 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.

1 John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.

Acts 8:
[14] Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
[15] Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
[16] (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
[17] Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost

Here is your baptism by the Spirit through the faith of the operation of God with you into Christ.

Baptism by the Spirit with a person into Christ upon salvation. This baptism is done by the Spirit through the faith of the operation of God into Christ. This puts a believer into Christ, crucified, buried, risen, and seated with Christ in His body. This is the one baptism for us in the dispensation of grace.

[14] For the body is not one member, but many.

1 Corinthians 6:
[15] Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
[16] What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
[17] But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.

Romans 6:
[3] Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
[4] Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
[5] For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
[6] Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.

Romans 12:
[4] For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office:
[5] So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.

Galatians 2:20 I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians 4:6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

[13] And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

Colossians 3:
[1] If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
[2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
[3] For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
[4] When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

[10] And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
[11] Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Ephesians 1:13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians  2:6 And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:

Ephesians 4:
[1] I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called,
[2] With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love;
[3] Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.
[4] There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling;
[5] One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
[6] One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.

Consistently throughout the New Testament we see people becoming Christians by immersion.  Examples include the Acts 2 (Jerusalem Church), Acts 8 (the Eunuch), Acts 9 (Saul), Acts 10 (Cornelius), Acts 16 (Lydia, Philippian Jailer), Acts 19 (twelve disciples), and Acts 22 and 26 (Saul).  With so many examples of water baptism (immersion) in the book of Acts it is clear the one baptism in Ephesians 4:4 can only be water baptism.  A Christian today, by faith, is saved in the watery grave of baptism as he is led by the Spirit of God to obedience (1 Corinthians 12:13).
HOSS: You are going to have a hard time proving that water baptism is by immersion and not sprinkling/pouring. The baptism of 1 Corinthians 12:13 is a baptism done "BY THE SPIRIT" and "THROUGH THE FAITH OF THE OPERATION OF GOD" (Col. 2:12). The baptism of Ephesians 4:5 is in the context of the "UNITY OF THE SPIRIT" and our "CALLING" that we must "WALK WORTHY OF". Those are spiritual things

Sir, you don't know a thing about buptism!

WHAT PAUL WAS SENT TO DO (ACTS 26:16-18)
"But rise, and stand upon thy feet: for I have appeared unto thee for this purpose, to make thee a minister and a witness both of these things which thou hast seen, and of those things in the which I will appear unto thee; Delivering thee from the people, and from the Gentiles, unto whom now I send thee, To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me."

WHAT PAUL WAS SENT NOT TO DO (1 CORINTHIANS 1:14-17)
"I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;  Lest any should say that I had baptized in mine own name. And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other. For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect."

Therefore water baptism has nothing to do with the following:
#1 Opening somebody's eyes to spiritual matters
#2 Turning somebody from darkness into light
#3 Turning someone from Satan unto God
#4 Receiving the forgiveness of sins
#5 Receiving inheritance with the saints
