The “200 +” verses that “prove” the Earth is flat

 A flat Earther sent me this image on Facebook…

You may have to blow up the image to read it, but it is 200 Bible references that allegedly prove the Earth is flat. 

Here is my response: “ so out of those 200 verses, which one says the Earth is flat? I’ll wait.”

Flat Earther Response: “FLAT?, You need a word flat to make you believe? Do you believe in RAPTURE? is it written? You read KJB, is the world bible inside KJB?”

My Response: “The problem is not the use of the word flat, the problem is you posted a list of verses about…

1.) The earth not being moved. This is obviously an English idiom per Ps. 10:6, 15:5, 16:8, 21:7, 30:6, 46:5, 55:22, 62:6, 66:9, 112:6, 121:3 which reference people not being moved. Aren’t we told to be “steadfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord”? Does this mean that they stood in one spot and never moved the rest of their life? Or does it mean they accomplished their purpose? 

Does Psalm 99:1 say “let the earth be moved”? 

2.) The earth having a “face”, but people have a “face” (Lev. 19:32) and our face is not flat but rather has curves. Our head is somewhat round. Where from the Bible do you get “face” = “flat”? 

3.) The earth having “four corners”. But chances are you do not believe that the earth has four actual corners just as most flat Earthers do not. You probably think it is a disc shape, circular. The “four corners” of the Earth is clearly an English idiom for the whole earth, all directions (north, south, east, and west). Leviticus 19:27 says that our head has “corners”, and yet our head is round. 

4.) Verses about the sun rising and setting, but this has nothing to do with the shape of the Earth. If anything it has to do with Heliocentricity vs Geocentricity. The statements about the sun “rising”, “going down”, etc are every day terms that everyone uses because from the perspective of the Earth it looks like the sun is going down and rising. However, most flat Earthers do not believe the sun goes up and down. They think that the sun and moon move around in circles above the Earth like spotlights with no actual rising and setting. So the round earth believers are more biblical. 

I could go on and on, but until you provide some actual verses that say the earth is a flat disc as the modern flat earth movement alleges, there is really nothing to talk about.”

The flat Earther then proceeded to send me about 13 memes ranging from stuff about NASA, to verses using the word firmament, to salvation by grace through faith. Still no verses about the Earth being flat. I will do a follow up post if he sends me one.
