James Webb Telescope reveals new age for the universe

I am a bit of a science enthusiast. I follow a lot of astronomy and physics pages, articles, and books. I like the mental challenge of trying to wrap my head around some of the things we can observe. As the book of Psalms says “When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained; What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” (PS. 8:3-4). As we observe these things, it shows the greatness and power of God.

However,  modern “science” has a lot of naturalism that attempts to explain the universe without God. Naturalism is not science. Naturalism is a philosophy at best and possibly a religion. Followers of Naturalism have “worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator” (Rom. 1:25). Sadly, many Christians have sought to compromise with this philosophy of man and try to adapt the Big Bang Theory to fit into the Bible. In fact, there are many “old earth” ministries out there trying to convince Christians that the earth is billions of years old and that God either used evolution or created things progressively over millions and billions of years. One of the more popular old earth ministries is Reasons to Believe by Dr. Hugh Ross. I have read some of his books, and the science was quite fascinating. However, like the Naturalists, he has mixed true science with “science false so called” (1 Tim. 6:20). He has then mingled the false science into the Bible. The Bible teaches that the earth was created in 6 literal, 24 hour days, about 6,000 years ago. However, Dr. Ross and the old earth crowd have sided with the Naturalists, contending that the universe began with the Big Bang about 14 billion years ago. This has been the main stream secular view since the 1970s. The old earthers have touted with great confidence for years that the Bible confirms the Big Bang and the 14 billion year age of the universe. However, their belief is not based on the word of God at all, but rather on the shifting sand of the narrow minded, secular, Naturalist research.

As seen in this headline, the Naturalist theory of the origin of the universe is seeing some major changes now that the James Webb Telescope is out there.

According to the headline, the age of the universe just doubled. If we base our faith in theories of man and philosophies of man, our foundation will always be shifting because many never has all the answers. But the word of God is pure, and the Biblical account of creation and age of the earth is unchanging. Christians that have jumped on the Big Bang bandwagon will look foolish when the secular world abandons it in favor of an even “better” theory. I am glad the word of God is unchanging and will stand for ever!

Isaiah 40:8 The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

1 Corinthians 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
