1.) Is salvation by
faith alone, prayer alone, or faith plus prayer?
2.) Does someone
who trusts Christ get saved instantaneously and eternally (Eph.
1:13-14) or does this occur when someone repeats the sinner's prayer?
3.) Does the Bible
ever record anyone saying the "sinner's prayer"?
4.) Why are there
different versions of the "sinner's prayer" out there?
Shouldn't receiving Christ be a standard thing laid out in the Bible?
Is there more than one way to get saved in the present dispensation?
5.) Since there is
no record of the "sinner's prayer" in the Bible, why should
we give people a prayer to say in order to get saved?
6.) Do you receive
Christ by faith or by prayer? (John 1:12-13)
7.) At what point
does God save the sinner? When he starts saying the prayer, half way
through the prayer, or when the person says "Amen"?
8.) Some "gospel"
tracts say at the end to "bow your head and say this prayer".
Does someone have to bow their head to be saved? Isn't that a work?
9.) Is prayer a
work that someone strives and perseveres in? (Col. 4:12, Rom. 15:30,
Eph. 6:18)
10.) Does someone
have to confess before men to be saved?
11.) Does someone
have to walk down the church, kneel at the platform, and then pray in
order to be saved?
12.) Why do you
have "altar calls"? Are those in the Bible? Can't someone
get saved anywhere if they trust Christ?
13.) Is prayer
something that people "offer" God? (Heb. 5:7)
14.) What does
"praying through" mean?
15.) Is the record
of the Pharisee and the publican a gospel passage or is it a parable
illustrating that you should not trust in yourself? (Luke
18:9-14)
16.) Do lost
people have access to God by the Spirit just like saved people do?
(Eph. 2:18, 6:18, Rom. 8:15-16, Gal. 4:6)
17.) Does God hear
the prayers of the lost? (Isa. 59:1-2, Ps. 34:15-16, Matt. 7:21, John
9:31, 1 Pet. 3:12, Prov. 15:29, 28:9)
18.) Does God want
lost people talking or stopping their mouths? (Rom. 3:19)
19.) Does God know
the heart of man, or does He need us to testify of ourselves? (John
2:24-25)
20.) Should the
"sinner's prayer" be addressed to the Father or the Son? I
have seen tracts that differ on this.
21.) Why do you
tell people to "repeat this prayer after me"? I thought
that Christ was the only Mediator between God and men. (1 Tim. 2:5)
22.) Does someone
receive salvation and righteousness when they believe the gospel of
Christ? (Rom. 1:16-17)
23.) Do you have
to ask for a gift, or is it given to those who receive it? (Rom.
5:15-18, 6:23, 2 Cor. 9:15, John 1:12-13)
24.) Prayer is a help
to other believers and yourself (2 Cor. 1:11), does God need you to
help Him save you?
Excellent!

DeleteGood exposure of the sinner's prayer. There is no doubt in my mind that it is has resulted in countless numbers having false assurance of salvation. That is a spiritually dangerous place to be....If there exists biblical evidence for reciting a sinner's prayer, then why did the Apostle Paul fail to mention such a concept in his basic presentation of the gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)?
