What gospel do you preach?
The
"gospel of the kingdom" (Matt. 4:23, 9:35, 24:14, Mark 1:14)? The
"gospel of the circumcision" (Gal. 2:7-8)? The "gospel of the grace of
God" (Acts 20:24)? The "glorious gospel" (2 Cor. 4:4, 1 Tim. 1:11)? The
"gospel of the uncircumcision" (Gal. 2:7-8)? The "gospel of Jesus
Christ" (Mark 1:1)? The "gospel of God" (Rom. 1:1)? Or how about the
"everlasting gospel" (Rev. 14:6)? If they tell you that they are ALL the
same gospel with different names then they don't know what they're
talking about.
The "gospel of the kingdom" is the good
news of the Kingdom of Heaven being at hand (Matt. 3:2, 4:17, 10:7, Mark
1:15). This is the gospel that Christ sent the 12 apostles to preach to
"all the world" and "every creature (Matt. 24:14, 28:19, Mark 16:15).
This did not have anything to do with the death, burial, and
resurrection of Christ (Matt. 16:21-23, Mark 9:31-32, Luke 9:44-45, Luke
18:31-34, John 20:6-10).
The "gospel of Jesus Christ"
is the good news of Jesus Christ. In the Gospel records this gospel was
the good news that the prophesied Son of God had come to save sinners.
This did not have anything to do with the death, burial, and
resurrection of Christ (Matt. 16:21-23, Mark 9:31-32, Luke 9:44-45, Luke
18:31-34, John 20:6-10).
The "gospel of the
circumcision" is the gospel that was committed to Peter (Gal. 2:7-8),
which means that it is the same thing as the "gospel of the kingdom".
The
"gospel of the grace of God" is defined as "Christ died for our sins"
was buried, and rose again the third day (1 Cor. 1:17-18, 2:2, 15:1-4).
This is called the gospel of the "grace" of God because it offers
salvation BY GRACE, UNDER GRACE, IN THE DISPENSATION OF GRACE, without
works (Rom. 11:6, Titus 3:4-7, Eph. 2:8-9, Eph. 3:1-9). This is the
gospel that was revealed to Paul by revelation of Christ from heaven
(Gal. 1:11-12). Paul calls it "my gospel" (Rom. 2:16, 16:25, 2 Tim.
2:8). It is also called "the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the
revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began"
(Rom. 16:25). This gospel was not after man, it was first given to Paul
from heaven (Gal. 1:11-12) and when it was committed to him Paul said
that in him "first" showed forth all longsuffering "for a pattern to
them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting" (1 Tim.
1:16).
The "gospel of the uncircumcision" and the
"glorious gospel" are the same gospel that was committed to Paul (Gal.
2:7-8, 2 Cor. 4:4, 1 Tim. 1:16).
The "everlasting
gospel" is a gospel preached by an angel from heaven to every nation in
the Tribulation. It is defined as "Fear God, and give glory to him; for
the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and
earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters." (Rev. 14:6-7)
Those are the different gospels in the NT
Now
here is how you spot a heretic--he will primarily pick only ONE of the
gospels mentioned above and then he will try to mix the entire NT
together and make you think that there is only one gospel in the New
Testament (and it is the one he picked). He will try and force every
other gospel in the NT to match the one that he likes the best. This
requires him to ignore the context of different verses and linking them
together based simply on similar word usage.
For
example, a Baptist will pick Paul's "gospel of the grace of God" of
salvation by grace through faith without works. That is the gospel he
professes to believe. But then he decides that he likes a certain
element of the gospel of the kingdom ("gospel of the circumcision") and
will try and mix it with Paul's gospel. This is how the mix'n match game works:
The Baptist preacher has just finished his sermon. Now he wants to see how effective his sermon was so he gives "the invitation" (the term never occurs one time in either testament) and gives the command for "every head bowed and every closed" (the Bible said to WATCH and pray). Then this Baptist fellow will say, "If any of you do not know for sure where you are going when you die, you need to come down to this altar and give your life to Jesus" (there is no altar in the NT since we do not have animal sacrifices and Jesus does not want your life). Then only a few people step out of their seats....the Baptist wants more than that, so he says "God will save you just as you are, your works can't save you. Just come down to the altar and get saved right now." (nobody in the Bible ever got saved at an altar--they just believed the gospel where they were) Only one more person steps out of their seat and comes down to the "altar" to "give his life to Jesus". This really ticks off the Baptist fellow since he thought he did a much better job preaching than that--so he decides to scare some folks and adds WORKS to the gospel of the grace of God. "Jesus said that if you won't confess Christ before men than he won't confess you to the Father, so come on down here."
That is how the Baptists do it. They claim the "gospel of the grace of God" and that salvation is a free gift by grace through faith and not of works, but then they will run back to an entirely different gospel and combine the two! The Baptist guy runs back to Matthew 10 and takes the gospel of the kingdom that was to go to the Jews only at the time (Matt. 10:5-6) when the "kingdom of heaven" was "at hand" (Matt. 10:7). The context is the JEWS in the "Great Tribulation" (Matt. 24:21) enduring the persecution of the antichrists "until the Son of man be come" (Matt. 10:23). That has nothing to do with a Gentile under grace (Rom. 6:14, Eph. 3:1-9)!!! That is not part of the "gospel of the grace of God" (Acts 13:38-39, 16:31, 20:24).
And this Bapdizzt chump will give you that SLOP and apply it to the Gentile under grace and call it "salvation by faith without works". These Baptists don't even follow Matthew 10 themselves, but they expect a lost person to follow it!
Matthew 10:8-10 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses, Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.
The Bapdizzt chumps do NOT heal the sick, cleanse lepers, raise the dead, or cast out devils! And they certainly DO provide gold, silver, and brass in their purses! They took up an offering at the beginning of the church service! NO BAPTIST FOLLOWS MATTHEW 10, THEY ARE ALL INCONSISTENT LIARS. How dare they expect a lost man to follow scripture that they do not follow themselves.
The so called Church of Christ will do the same thing. They will claim Mark 1:4, 16:16, Luke 3:3, 7:29-30, and Acts 2:38 and say that you have to be water baptized in order to have the remission and forgiveness of sins. Every Church of Christ elder demands obedience to Acts 2:38 and says that water baptism is a requirement for salvation. However, they are proven to be inconsistent liars just like the Baptists. They do NOT follow Acts 2!
The teaching of the gospel of the kingdom is that you must sell all that you have and not own any gold/silver etc.
If you don't believe me, check it! (Matt. 6:19-34, 19:16-24, Mark 6:7-9, 10:17-23, Luke 9:1-4, 12:15-34, Acts 2:44-45, 3:1-6, 4:32-37, 5:1-11)
Matthew 19:
[16] And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
[17] And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
[18] He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
[19] Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
[20] The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
[21] Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.
[22] But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful: for he had great possessions.
[23] Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
[24] And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
The so called "Church of Christ" does not follow that, even though it is what the 12 apostles taught (Matt. 6:19-34, 10:7-10, 19:16-24, Mark 6:7-9, 10:17-23, Luke 9:1-4, 12:15-34, Acts 2:44-45, 3:1-6, 4:32-37, 5:1-11).
This right here is ALL that the COC elder knows--repent and be buptized.....
Acts 2:38+41 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost....Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls."
That is all of the gospel of the kingdom that the COC elder will follow. They stop reading at verse 41 and they never keep reading. This is clear proof that all COC elders are money grubby crooks just like the Baptists.
Acts 2:44-45 And all that believed were together, and had all things common; And sold their possessions and goods, and parted them to all men, as every man had need.
The COC elder professes to teach and follow all of what Jesus and the apostles taught, but they're all liars. They don't follow what Jesus and the apostles taught. They will follow a little bit of the gospel of the kingdom and then combine it with other gospels to form a big religious blob.
He will primarily pick only ONE of the
gospels mentioned above and then he will try to mix the entire NT
together and make you think that there is only one gospel in the New
Testament (and it is the one he picked). He will try and force every
other gospel in the NT to match the one that he likes the best. This
requires him to ignore the context of different verses and linking them
together based simply on similar word usage.
The COC cult believes that water baptism washes away sins and that if you get water baptized in a baptistery that you have been baptized into Jesus Christ. They believe that the tank of water literally becomes the body and blood of Jesus Christ--just like Roman Catholicism did with the Lord's supper.
To promote this baptismal regeneration heresy, the COC will hysterically MIX'N MATCH any verses they can that have the words "water", "washing", or "baptize" in them. No matter the context, the COC's will combine verses with those words in them.
For examples:
1.) The COC says that John 3:5 ("born of water") is a reference to being water baptized even though that is not ANYWHERE in the context and even though the Bible never refers to water baptism as being "born of water". The context is being in the mother's womb (in water) in the first birth and needing a second birth that is of the Spirit.
2.) The COC says that "baptism into Christ" is the same thing as "baptism into water". They simply combine verses on baptism with water and mix them with baptism into Christ without a scriptural context. Baptism into Christ is spoken of in Romans 6:3-4, Gal. 3:26-28, Col. 2:10-13, Eph. 4:1-6, and 1 Cor. 12:12-18. NOT ONE TIME in any of those chapters is the word "water" even used. The COC simply matches the word "baptism" to water. However this baptism is done "by one Spirit" and "through the faith of the operation of God". Christ is not water, therefore simple common sense would tell anyone that "baptism into Christ" cannot be "baptism into water". I dealt with this more throughly here http://av1611studyblog.blogspot.com/2015/02/what-is-baptism-into-christ.html
3.) The COC says that 1 Corinthians 6:11 is a reference to water baptism: "And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God." The context has nothing to do with water baptism, but because the word "washed" is used it reminds the COC of the word "water" and therefore they combine this with verses on water baptism. (even though the verse said it was "by the Spirit of our God")
4.) The COC says that Titus 3:5 is a reference to water baptism. Titus 3:4-7 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life. While the verses plainly say that salvation is "not by works of righteousness which we have done", the COC insists that salvation is by our works of righteousness. They insist that the "washing of regeneration" is not a washing of regeneration, but that it is actually a washing of water. However, that is contradictory to what the rest of the verses say and it is not in the context. The words "water", "river", "baptism", etc. are not even used in the entire book of Titus. The washing is not a washing of water, it is a washing of regeneration. The washing is said to be "of the Holy Ghost" and "by the Spirit if our God" (1 Cor. 6:11). It is not a work performed by man. The COC ignores the context and creates a private interpretation that contradicts what the rest of the verses says.
5.) The COC claims that Ephesians 5:25-27 is a reference to water baptism. But as you can see, the word "baptism" is not even used in the entire chapter. So again, we have another example of the COC mindlessly combining words and creating private interpretations (2 Pet. 1:20) without any context whatsoever. "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish." The COC says that "the washing of water" is water baptism. Too bad they missed the rest of the phrase! It goes on to say "BY THE WORD". The word of God is what cleanses and sanctifies a person. Psalms 119:9 Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed thereto according to thy word. John 15:3 Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
The COC are the kings of private interpretation. If a verse says "baptism" they will add "water" to it. If a verse says "wash" they will add water to it. No matter what context, they will always do that.
The COC does this in order to say that Peter and Paul preached the same gospel.
Galatians 1:11-12 But I certify you, brethren, that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ.
Galatians 2:1-2 Then fourteen years after I went up again to Jerusalem with Barnabas, and took Titus with me also. And I went up by revelation, and communicated unto them that gospel which I preach among the Gentiles, but privately to them which were of reputation, lest by any means I should run, or had run, in vain.
Galatians 2:7-8 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter; (For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
Paul was given a new gospel which is called the "gospel of the uncircumcision" and the "gospel of the grace of God". It is defined in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4 as "that Christ died for our sins" was buried and rose again the third day. All who believe that gospel will be justified from all things without works (Acts 13:38-39). This gospel was given to Paul first and he is the one that communicated it to the other apostles.
Peter was the apostle to the circumcision and Paul was the apostle of the Gentiles. Paul is the one that the Lord revealed the mystery of Christ, the mystery of the blindness and fall of Israel until the fullness of the Gentiles, the mystery of the Jew/Gentile Body, the mystery of the rapture, the mystery of the gospel, and that is why we are instructed to follow him. Paul obtained all longsuffering FIRST for a PATTERN to those of us that have believed his gospel after him.
Which is why we see so much emphasis put on Paul's ministry. But don't take my word for it, read it yourself.....
Romans 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:
Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
Galatians 2:7-8 But contrariwise, when they saw that the gospel of the uncircumcision was committed unto me, as the gospel of the circumcision was unto Peter;
(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the
circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles:)
Romans 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:
Romans 15:16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.
Romans 16:25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began,
1 Timothy 1:11+16 According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust....Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.
Romans 2:16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
2 Timothy 2:8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
1 Corinthians 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
1 Corinthians 3:9-11 For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building. According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon. For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 4:1 Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
1 Corinthians 4:15-16 For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
Philippians 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
2 Timothy 1:9-11 Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began, But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel: Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-15 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.
Ephesians 3:1-9 For this cause I Paul, the prisoner of Jesus Christ for you Gentiles, If ye have heard of the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to youward: How that by revelation he made known unto me the mystery; (as I wrote afore in few words, Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ) Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit; That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body, and partakers of his promise in Christ by the gospel: Whereof I was made a minister, according to the gift of the grace of God given unto me by the effectual working of his power. Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
Ephesians 5:
[23] For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
[24] Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.
[25] Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it;
[26] That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
[27] That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
[28] So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.
[29] For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the church:
[30] For we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones.
[31] For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
[32] This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church.
Ephesians 6:19-20 And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.
Colossians 1:
[24] Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church:
[25] Whereof I am made a minister, according to the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God;
[26] Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
[27] To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:
[28] Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:
If words mean what they say (and they do) and the Bible says what it means (and it does), then Paul is the pattern and spokesman for Gentiles in the present dispensation. There is continual emphasis on Paul being THE apostle of the Gentiles and that the revelation of the doctrine of the Body of Christ was given to Paul first. Some people try and find the doctrine of the Jew-Gentile body of Christ in the Old Testament to no avail, for Paul makes it clear that it was not hid in the scriptures but rather "hid in God" until revealed to Paul:
"the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began"
"as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon"
"the dispensation of the grace of God which is given me to youward"
"by revelation he made known unto me the mystery"
"Whereby, when ye read, ye may understand my knowledge in the mystery of Christ"
"Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men"
"Whereof I was made a minister"
"Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given"
"the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God"
"This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church"
"Whereof I am made a minister"
"the dispensation of God which is given to me for you, to fulfil the word of God"
"the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations"
"this mystery"
....so I don't know about y'all, but I take that to mean that the doctrine of the Body of Christ is not in the Old Testament nor in Matthew-Mark-Luke-John or Acts 1-8. That is if words mean what they say.
It is also clear that Paul's gospel was distinctly his and was not what the 12 apostles preached. Paul refers to the gospel as "my gospel" three times. No other person in the Bible does that. Paul calls his gospel "the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery, which was kept secret since the world began" (Rom. 16:25).
Paul also said that he wanted to make known "the mystery of the gospel" (Eph. 6:19-20). Some would affirm that Paul's statement "the mystery of the gospel" means that the gospel was a mystery because many people had not heard it.....but that is clearly false.
Colossians 1:5-6 For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, whereof ye heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel; Which is come unto you, as it is in all the world; and bringeth forth fruit, as it doth also in you, since the day ye heard of it, and knew the grace of God in truth:
Colossians 1:23 If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and be not moved away from the hope of the gospel, which ye have heard, and which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Paul am made a minister;
Therefore the phrase "the mystery of the gospel" is a reference to Paul's gospel being a mystery. Paul's gospel is that Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again three days later (1 Cor. 1:17-18, 2:1-8, 15:1-4, 2 Cor. 5:14-21, Eph. 1:7, Col. 1:14). That itself is not a mystery. That is found in Isaiah 52-53 and Psalms 22. What is a "mystery" is that the death, burial, and resurrection is GOOD NEWS and that you can be saved RIGHT NOW simply by BELIEVING that gospel.
For example, Peter did preach Christ crucified in Acts 2-5, but he preached it as a murder charge against the Jews and not as good news. Peter said that you must be water baptized and sell all in order to have your sins forgiven, but he said that their sins would not be blotted out until the 2nd coming of Christ at the establishment of the earthly kingdom (Acts 2:38-45, 3:19-26). http://av1611studyblog.blogspot.com/2015/02/the-gospel-of-kingdom.html
Peter said that his salvation would be revealed in the last time at the appearing of Jesus Christ. He was waiting to receive the salvation of his soul....
1 Peter 1:
[3] Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
[4] To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
[5] Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
[6] Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
[7] That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
[8] Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
[9] Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
[10] Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
That is the plan of salvation according to prophecy, that is the "grace" that the prophets said would come (such as Jeremiah 31-33 and Ezekiel 36).
However, the grace that has come to the Gentiles presently was not in the Old Testament. The dispensation of the grace of God was "hid in God" until revealed to Paul (Eph. 3:1-9). Members of the Body of Christ have "NOW" been justified by Christ's blood and have "NOW" received the atonement, we do not have to wait for the salvation of our soul......
Romans 5:
[9] Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
[10] For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.
[11] And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
Members of the Body of Christ have their sins taken away by spiritual circumcision (Col. 2:10-13) and are not waiting for them to be blotted out.
Which is another inconsistency of the so called "Church of Christ". They will take part of Peter's gospel (the water baptism) excluding the parts they don't like (selling all) and then claim that their sins have now been blotted out and that they have the salvation of your souls (which Peter did not claim).
The COC mixes Peter's gospel of the kingdom and Paul's gospel of the grace of God to form a FALSE gospel that is not found anywhere in the Bible.
Paul's gospel excludes works of righteousness: Titus 3:5 But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.
Peter's gospel included works of righteousness: Acts 10:34-35 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
Ephesians 1:6 says that we are accepted in Christ's "GRACE" not in our own works of righteousness.
Ephesians 1:6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
And grace excludes all works according to Romans 11:6, "And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work."
Peter taught salvation through works of righteousness such as water baptism and selling all under the Gospel of the Kingdom.
There are different gospels in the Bible, but only one is to be preached today (Gal. 1:5-10) and it is the one Paul preached, not Peter (Gal. 1:11-12, 2:1-2, 2:7-8).
This is the only gospel that is to be preached today. It is called "the gospel of the grace of God". All it requires is faith in the finished work of Christ, ALL works are excluded (Rom. 3:27, 4:4-5, 10:1-4, Phil. 3:9, Eph. 1:13, 2:8-9, 2 Tim. 1:9, Titus 3:4-7).
1 Corinthians 15:
[1] Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;
[2] By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.
[3] For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;
[4] And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Acts 13:38-39 Be it known unto you therefore, men and brethren, that through this man is preached unto you the forgiveness of sins: And by him all that believe are justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.
Acts 16:30-31 And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.
Ephesians 1:13-14 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise, Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
Romans 2:8-9 "..unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil..."
You cannot mix gospels, you must "rightly divide the word of truth" (2 Tim. 2:15). --Eli Caldwell
