Archeology/history vs Bible preservation

Some people determine what the Bible should or should not say based on archeological discoveries and church history. But that method is not found anywhere in the Bible. Some Scholarship Only advocates such as James R. White, Doug Kutilek, and Rick Norris teach that we have to search for lost manuscripts of the Bible and recover truth and readings that were lost centuries ago. They claim that Tischendorf's discovery of Siniaticus (Aleph) in the 1800's brought new accuracy to the Bible that had been hidden/lost for centuries.

The logic of the Scholarship Only advocates is that if we do not have PROOF in history/archeology that a certain reading existed, then it must not have been in the original writings of the Bible written by John, Paul, Peter, etc.

This logic is highly flawed, for the paper used by the writers in the first centuries was very cheap, similar to newspaper. These manuscripts wasted away not long after they were copied or translated from the originals. As seen from the above scriptures, God did not promise to preserve certain sheets of paper, He only promised to preserve His WORDS. When the New Testament writers quote the Old Testament scriptures, they are not quoting from preserved pieces of paper, they are quoting preserved WORDS. The words we have in the Bible today are preserved words that God has had ever since they were originally written, though we do not have the early pieces of paper/manuscripts that existed in the first centuries.

A Scholarship Only advocate such as James White, Doug Kutilek, or Rick Norris would contend that since we have not discovered very many ancient manuscripts containing1 John 5:7 that it must not have been in the originals. Here are the problems with that:

1.) What if the words were in the originals and the paper/manuscripts that they were copied onto in the first centuries have just deteriorated?

2.) The moment we discover an old manuscript that did contain 1 John 5:7, White/Kutilek/Norris would have to change their opinions about whether or not the verse belonged in the Bible.

3.) Basing what you believe should or should not be in the Bible on human records and discoveries is not found in the scriptures themselves. 1 Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye received it not as the word of men, but as it is in truth, the word of God, which effectually worketh also in you that believe.....1 Corinthians 2:5 That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God. We are told to receive the Bible AS THE WORD OF GOD, not as the word of men. Our faith should not stand in the wisdom of men. If you pick up the Bible and look at a verse and say "I wonder if this was in the original or if it is just an interpolation...." then you are not receiving it as the word of God. You are letting man's discoveries be your authority rather than God.

1 John 5:7 has been in English ever since Wycliffe's work in 1382. It was also in the other English versions between Wycliffe and the Authorized Version of 1611.

However, we do not need to rely on archeology/history in order to believe the Bible. We do not have to have Noah's ark to believe that the account in Genesis 8-9 was true. We do not have to have the cross to believe the account in Matthew 27 was true. Likewise we do not need ancient copies to believe that the Bible really is preserved. We just receive it as it is in truth, the word of God (1 Thes. 2:13). That is called walking by faith and not by man's wisdom or sight (1 Cor. 2:5, 2 Cor. 5:7).

There are those who "corrupt", "add" to, "diminish" from, "pervert", the word of God (2 Cor. 2:17, Jer. 23:36, Deut. 4:2, Prov. 30:5-6, Rev. 22:18-19), which is why we must "search the scriptures" to discern truth from error (Acts 17:11).

We can know which Bible is the TRUE word of God by looking at the attributes of the word of God and seeing which Bible has those attributes. Christ said that the scriptures are what testify of Him (John 5:39), so whichever book that gives the most testimony to Christ will be the true Bible. The King James Bible testifies to Christ's omnipresence, deity, and blood atonement more than any other version.

The ESV, NASB, NIV, RSV, NRSV, NLT, NEB, etc all diminish from Christ as compared to the Authorized Version (KJB).

Not only are there many deleted words and verse in the modern version, many of the verses that are not deleted have been changed.
Look, the KJB says it is God that prospers you, but the modern versions say that you prosper yourself.

The KJB makes it clear that Jesus was God in the flesh, but the modern versions have taken that out of 1 Timothy 3:16.

Was Jesus Christ a "begotten God"? No! However, the NASB and the Jehovah's Witness "bibles" say that He was! That is heresy, which results in the false teaching of TWO gods, one being begotten and the other one unbegotten.

Jesus Christ was God manifest in the flesh (1 Tim. 3:16--KJB) and He has been around from "everlasting" (Micah 5:2)....but not according to the NIV and ESV!

Jesus Christ did NOT have "origins" from "ancient times" or "ancient days", He was "FROM EVERLASTING". 

Did Christ think that being equal with God was not a thing to be grasped like the ESV says? No! He did not have to "grasp" being equal with God because He was already God, that is why the KJB says that He did not think it was robbery to be equal with God!

Is God through with the nation of Israel forever? Will He always be angry with them? NO! God will punish the Jews during the tribulation, but those who get saved will be re-gathered at the 2nd coming of Christ and then He will "bring upon them all the good" that He has promised them (Jeremiah 30:1-24, 31:31-34, 32:36-42, Rom. 11:25-27, etc). However, the Amplified Version says that God is COMPLETELY finished with the Jews.
