Psalms 138:2. Magnification of God's word.

Psalms 138:2. Magnification of God's word.

A friend wrote, "Thanks Hoss. Good article. But can you explain how God's word could be "above" His name (namely, His very own nature.)
In other words, His word being higher than Himself? I read this in the Hebrew and there I find a very simple answer.

--Magnified name
Psalms 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and
for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

God bless,"

My answer was....

"Sorry Mr. S, but I can't explain most of what God does.

I can tell you that the Bible is not just a mere book, it is divine and living (John 6:63, Psa. 119:89, Heb. 4:12-13, 1 Pet. 1:23-25).

Look at 2 Peter 1, I think this might help with your question.

2 Peter 1:
[16] For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
[17] For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
[18] And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
[19] We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
[20] Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
[21] For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost
.

Peter states that the written scripture is a more sure word of prophecy than the voice of God the Father coming directly from heaven. I can't explain that either, but it IS in the scripture and I believe it to be true.

Thanks, have a great week! --bro. Hoss"
