Mr. Brian R. Kelson of Acts 28.net on the rapture of Acts. His material in red, my comments in green. --Eli "Hoss" Caldwell
Hi Eli,
The present distress does refer to the tribulation period as the Scriptures will show. (Proof?)
The problem with the mid-acts view is that the believers of the Acts period were the BOC, which they are not. (That is a lie. Try 1 Corinthians 6:15-20, 1 Corinthians 10:16-17, 1 Corinthians 12:12-27, Galatians 3:26-29 and Romans 12:4-5)
Then the invented idea that the "rapture" takes the BOC to heaven before the tribulation and wrath, none of this is true either. (That is another lie, try 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 5:9, and 2 Thessalonians 2:7)
What Mid-Acts does is to take later truths and drag them back where they do not fit, and there is little I or we can do for you Eli while you try and explain the Acts period of Paul from the post Acts letters. (I have done nothing of the sort. I have just as much truth about the body of Christ in the Acts epistles than you do in the post-Acts epistles. See http://av1611studyblog.blogspot.com/2014/03/without-prison-epistles.html . I know that the cross is what made the body of Christ possible (1 Corinthians 10:16-17) and that Christ is one body with many members (1 Corinthians 6:15-20, 12:12) and that we get in it by being baptized into His death, burial, and resurrection by the Spirit (1 Corinthians 12:13, Romans 6:3-5, Galatians 2:16,20, 3:26-28). I know that we are under the dispensation of grace (Romans 6:11) and that Paul is preaching the revelation of the mystery (Romans 16:25-26). That is just as good or better than what you have in a post-Acts epistle.) We have given you more than enough to show simple differences in Paul and while you were ready to study Acts 28 for a year I was hopeful you might begin to acknowledge some of these, because it is plainly written in Scripture that we must test things differing, Phils.1:10. (I agree. Paul's Acts ministry was mainly to the Jews. His goal is said to be to provoke them to jealousy and get an elect remnant into the grace program (Romans 9-11, 1 Corinthians 9). Israel was being blinded and diminished during Acts and that was a mystery revealed to Paul (Romans 11:25). I know that Acts is a transition book from that ministry to the ministry of the Gentiles outside the covenants of promise. I do acknowledge things differing.)
When Paul wrote 1Cor.7, he said the time was short, the fashion of this world was passing away and because of the shortness of time left, staying single, or in their current status was the best option. Husbands were to live as thought they did not have a wife, even though they did. By being married they would have trouble in the flesh and this is written in the context of the shortness of time.
(Again, you have twisted the passage to mean the 2nd coming of Christ rather than the rapture of the church. The rapture could occur at anytime, the time is always short. That is why Paul says in Ephesians to "redeem the time". Paul seemed to think that Timothy would see the last days before the rapture of the church (2 Timothy 3), your point of Paul expecting Christ's coming to be soon proves nothing. I am expecting Him before supper time. The reason Paul said to remain single was for the "present distress" (1 Corinthians 7:26) as we have already covered in the last session.)
The Lord had already warned about this in Matt.24 as follows; (Oh boy! I'm gonna get me a good kick out of this I bet!)
Mat 24:15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
Mat 24:16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:
2Thess.2 is all about Israel's temple and the man of sin, and the Lord's coming to destroy the one who makes the temple desolate. 2Thess.2 is about Matt.24 and Daniel the prophet. (Yes, Paul taught the differences between the rapture of the church and the 2nd coming. He said that the body of Christ was what was hindering the antichrist until it is taken out of the way--raptured out (2 Thessalonians 2:7).
The Lord goes on to say;
Mat 24:19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!
Mat 24:20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day:
Mat 24:21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.
Those days are the days of tribulation, the Lord doesn't hint that the believers were going to be taken out of it now does he? And neither does Paul. The Lord is giving His instructions as to how to survive through it. (What joke buddy! Christ is talking to kingdom believers and Paul is talking to the body of Christ, that is in no way comparable LOL! I thought you knew your Bible! Matthew-Acts 7 is preparation of the kingdom and is written to kingdom saints. The context of Matthew 24 is the Jews and kingdom gospel believers going through the great tribulation, the time of Jacob's trouble. But Paul preached the gospel of the grace of God to the body of Christ where there is neither Jew nor Gentile and that they were not going to face the tribulation (1 Timothy 1:16, 1 Corinthians 12:12-13, 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 5:9, 2 Thessalonians 2:7, Galatians 3:26-29). I noticed you skipped over some of Matthew 24....let's see what you did not want to show.
[13] But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.
[14] And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.
Oooooh.....brother Kelson, I know why you did not include those verses in your showing! Christ tells people to endure to the end of the tribulation to be saved. That requires one to not take the mark of the beast and not give in to the temptation of it--you have to overcome by your own faith according to 1 John 5:4, 2 John 1:9, James 2:17-26, and 1 Peter 1:7-11. The gospel of the kingdom (which required water baptism, Acts 2:38, Mark 16:15-16, Matthew 28:19, 1 Peter 3:20-21) had to be preached in all the world and then the end would come. That is when the kingdom saints got their sins taken away and forgiven according to Mark 16:15-16, Acts 2:38, Acts 3:19, 15:11, Matthew 19:21, 24:13, James 2:17-26, 1 Peter 1:7-11, 3:20-21, 1 John 1:9, 2:3-4, 3:6, 5:1-5, 2 John 1:9, Revelation 2:5, 16, 23, 26, 3:16, 14:12, 22:14, Ezekiel 36:24-28, Jeremiah 31:33-36, 32:37-40, and Romans 11:26-2.
However, Paul taught that we would not go through the tribulation and that Christ sent him NOT to baptize BUT to preach the gospel and that we currently have received the atonement, that we are already justified from all things and that we now have the benefits of the blood of the New Testament (Israel gets them at the 2nd coming) according to 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 5:9, 2 Thessalonians 2:7, 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, 1 Corinthians 1:17, Romans 3-4, 5:8-11, Galatians 2:16,20, 3:1-29, 1 Corinthians 10:16-17, 11:25, 2 Corinthians 3:6, and Acts 13:38-39.
Dear Mr. Kelson, you need to start testing things differing.)
He goes on to say;
Mat 24:22 And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
Why shorten the days if they are taken out of them?????
Now, here is as plain a statement as can be given;
Mat 24:29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken:
Mat 24:30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory.
Mat 24:31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.
The Lord comes back with a Trumpet after the tribulation. During the tribulation, women should not be pregnant because they would have trouble in the flesh fleeing the anti-Christ, suffering in the wilderness and all the other difficulties poured upon them by the enemy.
(You have mixed the PROPHESIED rapture of Israel (Ezekiel 36:24) with the MYSTERY rapture of the church (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18, 1 Corinthians 15:51-58, Romans 11:25). Mr. Kelson, you need to test things differing.)
Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
Mat 24:33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Mat 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
The Lord wrote to those who would see those things, just as Paul wrote to those who would see those things. Corinthians, Romans and Thessalonians are all written at the end of the ages but when we make the believers of that time the BOC, then we have real confusion. Starting the BOC with Paul's conversion or gospel in Acts 13 is denying right division, not adhering to it.
(Uhhhgggg. Don't you have anything new? The body of Christ started with Paul in Acts 9 according to Ephesians 3:1-9, 1 Timothy 1:16, 1 Corinthians 6:15-20, 10:16-17, 12:12-27, Galatians 3:26-29, and Romans 12:4-5. They were not going through the tribulation according to 1 Thessalonians 1:10, 5:9, and 2 Thessalonians 2:7. You're boring me Sir.)
At Acts 28, those imminent things were placed to one side, postponed, and that calling associated with Israel put aside also. Only then was the present truth revealed and we are not going to experience trouble in the flesh by marrying, we are not to treat our wives as thought they were not wives, all the advice of 1Cor.7 is dispensationally out of line with today’s age of grace. (I guess if you actually believe all that stuff you have stated than that is the conclusion you would come to.)
Please keep separating the things different Eli. And may the Lord keep helping you as you search and see. (Thank you very much, likewise)
